Responsible Gambling

Gambling is entertainment. It works best when you treat it that way. This page covers the tools and resources that help you stay in control.

18+

Gambling is for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please do not use gambling sites. If you think someone under 18 may be accessing gambling content, tools like GamCare can help.

Set your limits before you play

Every licensed casino is required to offer deposit limit tools. Use them before you deposit anything. Setting a daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limit takes about 30 seconds and makes it much harder to spend more than you intended.

Decide your budget before you open the casino, not after. A good starting point: only play with money you would spend on any other form of entertainment. If losing it would cause you real stress, it is too much.

Warning signs to watch for

Gambling becomes a problem gradually. These are early signs that something is off:

Chasing losses. Playing more to win back what you have already lost.

Gambling with money set aside for bills, rent, or food.

Hiding your gambling from friends or family.

Feeling anxious, irritable, or low when you are not gambling.

Spending more time gambling than you planned.

Borrowing money to fund gambling.

If any of those sound familiar, the tools below and the organisations listed can help.

Tools available at most casinos

Deposit limits

Set a cap on how much you can deposit per day, week, or month. Increases take time to apply; decreases take effect immediately.

Loss limits

Cap how much you can lose in a given period. Useful if you deposit in smaller amounts.

Cooling-off periods

Take a break from the casino for a set period, typically 24 hours to 30 days. Your account is suspended but not closed.

Self-exclusion

Close your account for a minimum period, usually six months to five years. The casino is not permitted to market to you during this time.
