Our verdict
Sugar Rush turns every explosion into a mark on the grid, and a square hit again doubles from x2 up to x128, so even base-game tumbles can build their own multipliers and free spins keep the whole grid between spins. The ceiling is lower than in later games, x128 per square and 5,000x in all, and a square needs two bursts before it pays anything extra.

Sugar Rush: Full Review
Sugar Rush is Pragmatic Play's 2022 candy slot, the original that Sugar Rush 1000 later built on. Clusters of five or more matching sweets pay on a 7x7 grid, wins tumble, and every explosion marks its square; repeat hits there grow a multiplier from x2 up to x128, and in free spins the marks stay all round. The rules give a 96.50% RTP, high volatility and a 5,000x cap. For this review we logged 100 spins of the Sugar Rush demo at $1 and bought the free spins once.

What is the Sugar Rush slot about?
The grid is built into a pastel blue sweet dispenser with frosting and sprinkles along the top, set against pink candy hills and lollipops. The buy button hangs on the left, and a glass jar of gumballs stands on the right.
Seven symbols fill the 49 squares. The four sweets pay best: a round pink candy ball, an orange heart, a magenta jelly bean and a green star. Red, purple and orange gummy bears are the low pays. The paytable shows pictures without names, which is why review sites name the sweets differently. A gumball machine marked SCATTER starts the bonus, and there is no wild.
A win needs at least five of one symbol touching side by side or above and below, and every size from 5 to 15 or more has its own price. At a $1 bet the pink ball pays $1 for five, $5 for ten and $150 for 15 or more; the green star $0.40, $2 and $40; the orange bear $0.20, $1 and $20.
Winning symbols pay and burst, everything above falls, and new sweets drop in from the top. The tumbles run until no new cluster forms, and the total is paid when they stop.
The base game before our first spin: buy at $100, $1 bet. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.
Sugar Rush bonus features
Multiplier spots up to x128
Each time a winning symbol bursts, its square is marked. When a second winning symbol bursts on a marked square, the square gets an x2 multiplier, and every further burst there doubles it: x4, x8, x16, x32, x64 and finally x128.
A multiplier applies to any winning cluster that lands on top of it, and when one cluster covers several, their values are added. In the base game the marks and multipliers last until the tumbles stop, then the grid is clean for the next spin.
The intro screen: spots from x2 to x128 across the grid and the high volatility badge. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.
Free spins with spots that stay
Three, four, five, six or seven scatters anywhere award 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins. In the round, the marked squares and their multipliers stay put from spin to spin and keep growing with every tumble, and the same scatter counts add another 10 to 30 spins. Special reels are used for the round.
Buy Free Spins at 100x
There is one buy: free spins for 100x the bet, $100 at $1, with 3 to 7 scatters landed at random, so the bought round can run 10 to 30 spins. The buy keeps the same 96.50% RTP as normal play. The game has no ante bet or other special bet.
RTP, maximum win and bets
The rules give 96.50%, the same as Pragmatic Play's game page; review sites also list 95.50% and 94.50% versions for casinos to choose. No win can pass 5,000x the bet, base game or bonus; if free spins reach that figure, the round stops there and the remaining spins are lost.
Bets run from $0.20 to $240, against the $100 maximum the review sites give. The game and the sites agree on high volatility.

Played on the official demo with play money in one session, base spins one at a time. The game has no ante bet or special modes. Free spins never triggered in the 100 base spins. Four spot wins of $22.10, $16.80, $16.65 and $13.20 made $68.75 of the $111.75 base return; without spin 45 the other 99 spins returned $89.65, and without all four the other 96 returned $43.00. The Free Spins buy ($100) paid $20.90 in 10 spins with no retrigger, a single result. Totals from the spin log: $200.00 staked, $132.65 returned, ending at $99,932.65. 100 spins and one buy cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.
We played 100 spins at $1 in one session, then bought the round. The spins returned $111.75 from 42 wins, more than they cost, but the shape matters more than the total. 25 of the wins were under $1 and another 11 under $5, and four spins on multiplied squares paid $22.10, $16.80, $16.65 and $13.20: $68.75 between them.
Without spin 45, the best, the other 99 spins returned $89.65. Without all four big spins the other 96 returned $43.00. The longest wait for a win was nine spins, ending on spin 82.
Spin 27 shows how quickly spots work in the base game. Six orange hearts landed on x4 and paid $4.00 instead of $1.00, and seven orange bears on x2 added $0.60, inside a $5.60 total.
Spin 27 of 100 at $1, settled: hearts on x4 and bears on x2 in a $5.60 total. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.
Spins 44 and 45 then paid $16.80 and $22.10 back to back, the two best spins of the test. On spin 45 the win list shows 12 red bears on x4 for $14.00 and 6 green stars on x10 for $5.00; at plain rates those two clusters were worth $4.00.
Spin 45 of 100 at $1, settled: $22.10, led by 12 red bears on x4 for $14.00. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.
No base spin landed three scatters, so we bought the round. It gave 10 free spins, stood at $14.65 after eight and finished at $20.90, without a retrigger.
The $100 buy at a $1 bet: $20.90 in 10 free spins. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.
The session in two lines:
- Base game, 100 spins at $1: $100.00 in, $111.75 back
- Free Spins buy at 100x: $100.00 in, $20.90 back
In all we staked $200.00 and got $132.65 back, and the balance went from $100,000.00 to $99,932.65, matching the server log. Free spins never triggered naturally, and the bought round never retriggered. Neither 100 spins nor one round can measure the 96.50% RTP or test the high rating.
Is Sugar Rush worth trying?
The spots give the base game something most cluster slots lack: a long tumble sequence can build its own multipliers before it ends, which is where all four of our big base wins came from. Free spins take that further, since nothing resets between spins and a busy grid can turn ordinary clusters into large wins.
The limits are just as clear. A square needs two bursts before it multiplies anything, the x128 ceiling and the 5,000x cap are modest next to newer games, and a bought round that lands few early clusters has little to build on.
Sugar Rush 1000, which we also tested, keeps the grid, the scatter table and the doubling spots, but its spots go on to x1,024, its cap is 25,000x and it adds a 500x Super buy. Its $100 buy paid $20.75 in our test against $20.90 here, which says more about one-round samples than about either game.
Fruit Party, another 7x7 cluster game in our tests, puts its multipliers on the symbols instead: random 2x pieces, 2x or 4x in free spins, that multiply each other within a cluster up to 256x, with the same 5,000x cap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play the Sugar Rush demo for free?+
Yes. This page runs Pragmatic Play's official Sugar Rush demo with play money and no sign-up. There is no ante switch, only the buy: at a $1 bet it reads $100 and asks you to confirm with a tick before the round starts. The intro screen shows the spot multipliers up to x128 and the high volatility badge before your first spin.
What's the difference between Sugar Rush and Sugar Rush 1000?+
Sugar Rush is the 2022 original, game code vs20sugarrush: spots double up to x128, wins stop at 5,000x and there is one 100x buy. The 1000 edition keeps the 7x7 grid and the 10 to 30 free spins but lets spots double to x1,024, caps wins at 25,000x and adds a 500x Super buy. We have tested both.
How do the multiplier spots work in Sugar Rush?+
A winning symbol that bursts marks its square. The next burst on that square sets an x2 multiplier, and each one after doubles it, to a top of x128. Any cluster on top of it is multiplied, and several in one cluster are added. Base-game marks clear after the tumbles; in free spins they stay. Our spin 45 had 12 red bears on x4.
What is the max win in Sugar Rush?+
5,000x the bet, in the base game and in free spins, which is $5,000 at $1 and $1,200,000 at the $240 top bet. A free spins round that hits the cap stops at once and any spins left are lost. Our best single result was $22.10 on base spin 45; the $100 buy paid $20.90.
What are the RTP and volatility of Sugar Rush?+
The demo's rules give 96.50% for normal play and the same 96.50% for the 100x buy, matching Pragmatic Play's game page, while review sites list 95.50% and 94.50% versions too. The rules and intro screen rate it high volatility. Our base spins returned $111.75 on $100, but $68.75 of that came from four spins.
