What is the Big Bass Bonanza Megaways slot about?

The reels sit under the water beneath a sunset sky. Above the surface a row of four extra symbols runs over reels 2 to 5, a counter at the top right shows each spin's ways, and a REEL KINGDOM mark sits bottom left. There is no buy button.

Reels 1 and 6 hold up to six symbols, and reels 2 to 5 up to five plus one on the top row, which slides from right to left. The ways are the heights multiplied: the 4,500 in our frame below came from reels of 3, 5, 5, 5, 4 and 3. Wins pay left to right from reel 1, and only the best win per way counts.

At a $1 bet the float dominates the paytable: six pay $50, three $5, and two still pay $2, the only two-of-a-kind win. Six rods pay $7.50, six dragonflies or tackle boxes $2, and the A and the fish $1.75. K and Q pay $1 for six, J $0.90 and 10 $0.80, down to $0.10 for three 10s.

The fish are money symbols with a value of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 4,000x the bet printed on them. Outside free spins that value is only decoration: a fish pays as an ordinary symbol and tumbles away like the rest.

Tumbles and the net wild

Every win is paid and its symbols vanish; the rest fall, and new symbols of the same size drop in until a tumble brings no new win. The money reaches your balance when the whole sequence ends.

The wild is a landing net, and it appears only on the top row above reels 2 to 5. It stands in for every symbol except the scatter and the fisherman, so it can complete a way across reels 2 to 5 but never start one on reel 1.

Scatters and up to 25 free spins

The leaping bass is the scatter and lands on all six reels. Three anywhere award 10 free spins, four award 15, five award 20 and six award 25, and the round runs on special reels of its own.

The fisherman collect and the 2x, 3x and 10x ladder

The bearded fisherman appears only in free spins, on any reel, and each one collects the value of every fish on screen. In the round fish no longer explode with a win: they stay and drop to the bottom as tumbles happen.

A bar down the right side counts every fisherman until the round ends. Each fourth one adds 10 spins and raises a multiplier on fish collections and all other wins, to 2x, then 3x, then 10x. The extra spins follow the current batch, and after the third retrigger there are no more.

Dynamite and the bazooka

When a free spin ends with one or two fishermen and no fish on screen, dynamite can blow fish onto the reels at random, or a bazooka can change every symbol except the fishermen. Neither appeared in our round.

Maximum win, RTP and bets

Wins stop at 4,000x the bet, $4,000 at $1. A round that reaches the cap ends at once and any spins left are lost, so one 4,000x fish collected even without a multiplier would finish it. The rules give a 96.72% RTP, bets from $0.20 to $240 against the review sites' $100 maximum, and a MEDIUM VOLATILITY badge where those sites say high.

What changed from Big Bass Bonanza and Bigger Bass Bonanza

All three games' rules share the leaping bass scatter, fish money values that a fisherman collects in free spins, and the fourth-fisherman ladder of 10 spins at 2x, 3x and 10x. Big Bass Bonanza runs on 5x3 reels and 10 lines with fish up to 2,000x and a 2,100x cap; Bigger Bass Bonanza moves to 5x4 and 12 lines with fish and a cap of 4,000x.

The Megaways version keeps Bigger Bass Bonanza's 4,000x fish and cap and its medium badge but adds ways, tumbles, a sixth scatter worth 25 spins and a net wild, since the fisherman is no longer a wild. The ladder now lifts all wins, not only collections, and the lone fisherman's random fish become dynamite, which also fires with two fishermen, plus the bazooka.

Our Big Bass Bonanza Megaways demo test

With no buy, ante or mode to test, we cut the opening $2.00 bet to $1.00 and played 100 base spins, each started by a script clicking the spin button rather than by autoplay. Quick spin from around spin 8 changed only the speed.

The start was dry. The first 47 spins paid $3.30 between them, and spins 15 to 47 paid nothing at all, 33 in a row.

Spin 85 left three scatters on reels 3, 4 and 6 after a tumble, for 10 free spins, and three fishermen landed, one short of the first retrigger. The round stood at $33.95 before free spin 9, when a fisherman landed among high-value fish and added $82.20 alone; it ended at $121.15, 121 times the bet. That was a single result: the other 99 spins returned $36.95.

With no retrigger we never saw the 2x, 3x or 10x multiplier, and dynamite, the bazooka and four or more scatters never showed up either; they are described from the rules.

The base game woke up late. Spins 91, 95 and 100 paid $5.60, $15.85 and $5.40, and spin 95's tumble sequence was the best base result.

Is Big Bass Bonanza Megaways worth trying?

This is the busiest of the three Big Bass Bonanza games. Changing reels and tumbles give the base game more to do than fixed lines, a sixth scatter adds a 25-spin start, and the ladder multiplies every win in the round, not just the fish. Dynamite and the bazooka can rescue a free spin where one or two fishermen land with nothing to collect.

The core is unchanged. Fish pay their cash only in free spins, the round comes only from scatters, and each ladder step needs four fishermen; ours stopped at three. The 4,000x cap is no higher than Bigger Bass Bonanza's.
