Bigger Bass Bonanza is the 2021 follow-up to Big Bass Bonanza, built by Reel Kingdom and distributed by Pragmatic Play. It moves the fishing formula onto 5x4 reels with 12 fixed lines, keeps the fisherman who collects fish values in free spins, and raises both the top fish and the cap to 4,000x the bet. What is the Bigger Bass Bonanza slot about?

The reels sit under clear blue water, with palm-tree silhouettes on the sea floor and a neon-lit beach front above the surface. Two golden bass flank the logo at the top, and a REEL KINGDOM mark sits in the bottom-left corner. There is no buy button: the only way into the bonus is the scatters.

Wins pay left to right on 12 fixed lines across four rows, and only the best win per line counts. Five boats pay 200x the bet, $192 at our $0.96 stake, and two boats pay 0.5x, the only two-of-a-kind pay. Rods pay 100x for five, lures and tackle boxes 50x, and A, K, Q, J and 10 pay 10x for five and 0.5x for three.

The fish are money symbols. Every fish shows a random value of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 4,000x the bet, with nothing between 50x and 4,000x. Outside free spins they count as line symbols: three pay 1x and four pay 5x, and only five on one line pay the total of their values. There is no wild in the base game.

Scatters and free spins

The scatter is a leaping bass, and it lands on all five reels. Three, four or five of them award 10, 15 or 20 free spins, which run on special reels. Once the round starts, a bar along the top of the screen tracks every fisherman that lands, and every fourth tile on it is a retrigger.

The fisherman collect

In free spins the fisherman, shown as a photo of the bearded angler holding his catch, lands on any reel as a wild. He stands in for every symbol except the scatter, and each one that lands collects the value of every fish on screen at that moment.

Retriggers and the 2x, 3x and 10x ladder

Every fourth fisherman retriggers the round with 10 more spins and raises the collection multiplier: 2x after the first retrigger, 3x after the second and 10x after the third, when retriggers stop. The extra spins start once the current batch ends, and the new multiplier applies to them.

Random fish

When a free spin ends with only one fisherman on screen, fish can appear in random positions. One review site says this happens whenever a fisherman lands; the rules limit it to spins with a single fisherman.

Maximum win and what is missing

Wins stop at 4,000x the bet, the same as the top fish. If a round's total reaches 4,000x it ends at once, the win is paid and any spins left are lost, so one 4,000x fish collected at any multiplier would finish the round. There is no bonus buy, ante bet or special bet.

What changed from Big Bass Bonanza

Both games' rules keep the fisherman collect, the fourth-fisherman ladder of 2x, 3x and 10x, the random fish for a lone fisherman, 10, 15 or 20 free spins and a 96.71% RTP. Big Bass Bonanza runs on 5x3 reels and 10 lines, with fish up to 2,000x under a 2,100x cap and bets of $0.10 to $250.

The sequel adds a fourth row and two lines, doubles the top fish to 4,000x, matches the cap to it and moves the bets to $0.12 to $240. A boat and a lure take the places of the float and the dragonfly, and five fish on a line now pay their values instead of a fixed 20x. The rules' volatility label also moves, from low in the original to medium here.

The game cannot be set to $1. Its 12 lines are fixed and the total bet is lines times coins times coin value, so it moves in $0.12 steps: $0.96, $1.08, or the $1.20 the demo opened at. We played 100 spins at $0.96, 8 coins of $0.01 a line, one at a time without autoplay, and give amounts with their multiple of the bet.

It was a slow start. The first 23 spins paid nothing, and in all only 11 of the 100 paid: $0.48 (0.5x) twice, $0.96 (1x) twice, $1.44 (1.5x), $1.92 (2x) twice, $2.88 (3x), $5.76 (6x) and the two free spins rounds.

Free spins came on spin 40, from three scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4. Two fishermen landed in the 10 spins, two short of the first retrigger, and the round paid $35.04, 36.5x the bet. Spin 92 brought the second round, again three scatters and 10 spins, again two fishermen and no retrigger, for $26.88, 28x.

Those two rounds made $61.92 of the session's $78.72, and each is a single result. Without them the other 98 spins returned $16.80, all from line wins. The best of those came last: spin 100 lined fish up across the top row and down reel 2 and paid $5.76, 6x, as line wins rather than the values printed on the fish.

We never saw a retrigger, four or five scatters or five fish on one line, so the 2x, 3x and 10x collections and the base-game fish values are described from the rules. Big Bass Bonanza, played the same day at $1, gave us three rounds and $334.00 in 100 spins; one session of each says nothing about which pays more.

Across the session we staked $96.00 and got $78.72 back, 82%, and the server balance went from $100,000.00 to $99,982.72, matching our log. A hundred spins cannot measure a 96.71% RTP or test the medium label.

Is Bigger Bass Bonanza worth trying?

It is the original with more room. A fourth row and 12 lines give fish and scatters more places to land, and the fish ladder now ends at 4,000x, so one top fish collected even at 1x reaches the cap. Five fish on a line also pay their values in the base game, which the original never allowed.

The structure stays strict. Fishermen appear only in free spins, so the base game has no wild, and most fish pay line rates: 89 of our 100 spins paid nothing. A retrigger needs four fishermen in one round, both of ours stopped at two, and no buy skips the wait. Every review site we checked calls it high volatility, but the game's own badge says medium.

Big Bass Vegas 1000, a later Reel Kingdom game we have tested, stays on 5x3 reels and 10 lines but adds buys, an ante and fishermen in two colours, each with its own 2x, 3x and 10x ladder, under a 15,000x cap.
