Chaos Crew 2

The Chaos Crew 2 slot is Hacksaw Gaming's 2023 sequel to Chaos Crew, a punk graffiti game on a 5x5 grid with 19 paylines. Its Bonus still builds multipliers above the reels, now with sticky symbols, a Super Bonus and best-of-three rounds, and a random Epic Drop brings a taste of it to the base game. Every mode can pay 20,000x. We played 100 base spins at $1, every buy and both FeatureSpins modes.

What is the Chaos Crew 2 slot about?

A purple-framed grid hangs on a wall of graffiti. Cranky Cat, a blue cat in a skeleton T-shirt, leans on a baseball bat to the left, and Sketchy Skull, a green skull in a hoodie, holds a scythe to the right. The Bonus grid turns grey, with HACK, SAW, SCAM, CHAOS and CREW tiles.

Line wins run from the leftmost reel across 19 fixed lines and need 3 of a kind. At a $1 bet, five hearts, X-eyed smileys, wings, anarchy signs or 8-balls pay $2, dice and tongue-out mouths $5, lightning smileys and diamonds $7.50, and the pyramid with an eye $10. The cat-head Wild pays only for five, $20.

Base-game Cranky Cats are wild multipliers of x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 or x20, at most one per reel, and two or more in one win multiply each other. The 27% hit rate that all three review sites we checked give compares with 23 paying spins in our 100.

Chaos Crew 2 bonus features

Epic Drop

Any base spin can open with an Epic Drop at random. The grid becomes the Bonus grid for that spin, at least five multiplier symbols drop in and pay, and play goes back to normal unless another one arrives. None came in our base spins.

Bonus

Three BONUS! scatters at once start the Bonus, where only blanks and multiplier symbols land. Each reel's multiplier starts at 1x, and at the end the five are added up and paid on the bet. A Sketchy Skull adds 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x to its reel, and a Cranky Cat multiplies it by x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 or x20.

Three lives, one spin each, refill whenever a multiplier symbol lands. Both symbols come in four kinds:

• Regular: acts on its own reel once
• Sticky: stays and acts on its own reel on every later spin
• Epic: acts on all five reels once
• Epic Sticky: stays and acts on all five reels on every later spin

We could not pick out a Sticky or Epic Sticky symbol on screen, so those two come from the rules alone.

Super Bonus

Four BONUS! scatters start the Super Bonus, played the same way but with at least 7 multiplier symbols on its first spin.

Best of Bonus and Best of Super Bonus

A BEST OF BONUS scatter landing with three BONUS! scatters plays three full Bonus rounds in a row; with four, three Super Bonus rounds. Each result goes on a scoreboard beside the grid, and only the highest is paid. The rules make this a normal trigger as well as a buy, and one of our BonusHunt spins set one off. The game has no Hidden Epic Bonus.

Bonus buys and FeatureSpins

BUY BONUS shows six cards priced from the bet. As bonus buys, the Bonus costs 100x at 96.34% RTP and the Super Bonus 250x at 96.3%, both labelled Very high. Best of Bonus costs 200x at 96.29% and Best of Super Bonus 500x at 96.35%, both labelled High, so each sells three rounds for the price of two.

FeatureSpins stay on until DISABLE is pressed. BonusHunt costs 5x a spin for ten times the bonus chance, at 96.22%, labelled Extreme. Epic Drop costs 200x and makes every spin an Epic Drop with at least 15 multiplier symbols, at 96.35%, labelled High.

Bets run from $0.10 to $2,000 under the rules, where the review sites we checked stop at $100, and the 20,000x cap ends any round that reaches it.

Our Chaos Crew 2 demo test

Hacksaw Gaming's official demo ran in US dollars from its $5,000 balance, and the game server's log confirmed every round. Our 100 base spins at $1 brought back $21.30 from 23 wins, 16 of them under $1. Spins 22 to 33 paid nothing, and no Bonus, Best of Bonus or Epic Drop came.

The best base spin, number 38, had x2 Cranky Cats on reels 1 and 3 in the same win and paid $7.40. The other 99 returned $13.90.

Next we bought each round once. The Bonus ended at 7x, 11x, 6x, 9x and 1x, 34x in all, plus a $0.20 line on the buy spin, for $34.20. The Super Bonus finished at 20x, 3x, 21x, 9x and 62x, $115.00, and Best of Bonus stored 30x, 31x and 25x and paid $31.00.

Best of Super Bonus stored 71x, 897x and 122x. In its second round a 100x Sketchy Skull, the top value, landed on reel 1, which our captures show at 416x and later 832x. The $897.00 is a single result; the other three buys returned $180.20 for $550.

Ten BonusHunt FeatureSpins at $5 followed. Spin 9 set off a natural Best of Bonus that stored 53x, 56x and 164x and paid $164.00, a single result; the other nine paid $0.80.

Ten Epic Drop FeatureSpins at $200 came last, and every one paid, from $63 to $1,859, $2,980 in all. Each board's total pays on the $1 base bet, so a spin needs 200x to cover its price, and only spin 3 got there: 1859x on the board, $1,859.00 in the server log. The other nine returned $1,121 for $1,800.

Spin 3 has no settled frame, as the next spin began during the win display, but the balance after spin 4's stake, $6,405.30, shows it was paid.

One demo session took the balance from $5,000.00 to $6,043.30, on $3,200.00 staked and $4,243.30 returned. Two results did most of that: without the $1,859 spin and the $897 round, the rest returned $1,487.30 for $2,500. The rules screen showed 96.27%. We saw no natural base-game trigger and no Sticky symbol we could identify, and a session this size cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.

Is Chaos Crew 2 worth trying?

The Bonus is the reason to play. Its five numbers only go up, Skulls now add as much as 100x and Cats multiply by up to x20, and sticky kinds keep acting after they land, so a long round compounds toward a cap of 20,000x.

The Best of rounds trade a higher price for three tries, and their cards say High where single rounds say Very high. Our two, one round each, paid $31.00 and $897.00.

The base game is the weak part: five of a low symbol pay twice the bet, and the rest waits on three scatters or a random Epic Drop. Epic Drop FeatureSpins skips the wait, at 200x a spin with boards paid on the base bet.

Hacksaw rates the volatility 5 out of 5 on its game page and the intro meter, the rules give no word for it, and the buy cards run from High to Extreme. Casinos can choose 96.27%, 94.22%, 92.41% or 88.28% RTP.

Chaos Crew, the 2020 original, shares the 5x5 grid, the left-to-right lines, and a bonus of reel numbers that Cats multiply, Skulls raise and the three refilling spins keep alive, by both games' rules.

The sequel moves from 15 lines to 19, lifts the base Cat from x5 to x20 and the Skull from +20 to 100x, and adds the sticky kinds, Epic Drop, the Super Bonus and the Best of rounds. Its cap doubles to 20,000x and covers every mode, where the original's was for free spins only, and one 129x buy becomes six options.
