Gates of Olympus puts its multipliers everywhere: orbs of 2x to 500x can land on any spin, and in free spins they build a total that lasts the whole round. The catch is that the total only boosts spins that bring a new orb and a win together, and the review sites agree on a 5,000x cap, the lowest of the editions we have tested.

Who it suits

Play this if…

  • You want multipliers in the base game: orbs of 2x to 500x can land on any spin
  • You like a bonus that builds: the free spins total never resets during the round
  • You want one RTP whichever way you play: 96.50% in all three modes

Skip this if…

  • You want a high ceiling: the sites' 5,000x is a fifth of Gates of Olympus 2500's 25,000x
  • You want every free spins win boosted: the total needs a new orb on a winning spin
  • You want steady base pays: 64 of our 100 spins paid nothing

Gates of Olympus: Full Review

Gates of Olympus is the 2021 Pragmatic Play original that started the Zeus series, before the 1000, 2500 and POP editions. Eight or more matching gems or treasures anywhere on its 6x5 grid pay, wins tumble, and winged orbs worth 2x to 500x multiply tumble sequences in the base game and build a lasting total multiplier in free spins. The demo's rules give 96.50% RTP for every way of playing and a medium volatility badge. We tested the Gates of Olympus demo with 100 spins at $1 and one bonus buy.

What is the Gates of Olympus slot about?

The grid stands in a golden frame on a marble terrace, with burning braziers on columns, temples behind and a violet sunset sky. Zeus waits on the right, white-bearded, in a white robe with gold bracers and a lightning bolt in his hand. The buy button and the double chance panel sit on the left, above a dark box where the game lists each paying symbol of a tumble sequence.

The paytable has nine symbols and no wild. Four treasures pay best: a red and gold crown, an hourglass, a jewelled ring and a chalice. Five gems in red, purple, yellow, green and blue fill the rest. A portrait of Zeus marked SCATTER triggers the bonus.

What counts is how many of one symbol are on screen when the reels stop, in three bands: 8 or 9, 10 or 11, and 12 to 30. At a $1 bet the crown pays $10, $25 and $50, the hourglass $2.50, $10 and $25, and the blue gem only $0.25, $0.75 and $2. Several symbols can pay on the same screen, and their wins add up.

After each win the paying symbols drop out, the rest slide down and new ones fill the gaps. The chain continues for as long as new wins form, and the whole sequence is paid once it stops.

Gates of Olympus bonus features

Multiplier orbs from 2x to 500x

The orbs come in green, blue, purple and red, and they can drop onto any reel during a spin or a tumble, in the base game and in free spins alike. Each takes a value of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x or 500x.

They wait until the chain of tumbles is over; then every orb in view is added up and the sequence's total win is multiplied by that sum. An orb that lands on a spin without a win pays nothing.

Free spins and the total multiplier

Four or more Zeus scatters award 15 free spins and pay 3x the bet for four, 5x for five or 100x for six. Three or more during the round add 5 more spins, and the round uses special reels.

The round keeps a total multiplier. When an orb lands and its spin wins, its value is added to the total, and the total never resets until the round ends. From then on, any spin where a new orb lands and wins is also multiplied by the total. A win with no new orb is paid at its plain value, so the total matters only when orbs and wins arrive together.

Review sites phrase this rule in different ways; the rules page below is the one that counts.

Gates of Olympus rules page 3: free spins with a total multiplier built from orbs on winning spins, the 25x ante bet and the 100x buyRules page 3: the total multiplier, the double chance bet and the 100x buy. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.

The 100x buy and the double chance bet

At the standard bet multiplier of 20x you can buy the round for 100x the bet, $100 at $1, after a confirmation dialog. Switching the double chance panel on moves to bet multiplier 25x: a $1 bet then costs $1.25, more scatters sit on the reels, the chance of a natural trigger doubles, and the buy is switched off. We kept it off for the whole test.

RTP, maximum win and bets

The rules give 96.50% for normal play, 96.50% with the ante and 96.50% when buying free spins, the same figure as Pragmatic Play's game page. Review sites list lower versions too, including 95.51%, so check the rules where you play. Bets run from $0.20 to $300 in the rules, well above the $100 the sites give.

The rules pages we captured state no maximum win, while all three review sites put it at 5,000x the bet. The game shows a MEDIUM VOLATILITY badge on its intro and rules page, and we use that over the sites' high rating (how volatility labels work).

Played on the official demo with play money in one session, double chance bet off. Free spins never triggered in the 100 base spins, and no base spin reached 10x. The best was $6.65 on spin 31, a single result, without which the other 99 spins returned $41.10. The Free Spins buy ($100) paid $40.40 in 15 spins, the $3.00 scatter pay included, with no retrigger, a single result. Totals from the spin log: $200.00 staked, $88.15 returned, ending at $99,888.15. 100 spins and one buy cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.

We played 100 spins at $1 in one session with the double chance bet off. They returned $47.75 from 36 winning spins: 17 under $1, 18 from $1 to $5, and a single win above that. The worst stretch was 11 spins in a row with nothing, ending on spin 61, and the return came in bursts: the first 25 spins returned $7.00, the second 25 $16.70, the third $9.30 and the last $14.75.

The best base spin came on spin 31, a $6.65 tumble sequence. The win list shows where it came from: 10 rings for $5.00, plus 8 green gems, 9 yellow gems and 10 blue gems for $1.65 between them. Those four add up to exactly $6.65, so no orb touched it. No base spin reached 10x the bet, and without spin 31 the other 99 returned $41.10.

Gates of Olympus spin 31 at a $1 bet, settled: win list of 8 green gems, 10 rings, 9 yellow and 10 blue gems, TUMBLE WIN $6.65Spin 31 of 100 at $1, settled: four symbol wins for $6.65, our best base spin. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.

Four scatters never landed in the base game, so we bought the round for $100. The four bought scatters paid $3.00, and by free spin 8 the round stood at $39.40. The last seven spins added just $1.00, and with no retrigger the round ended at $40.40.

Gates of Olympus result screen after our $100 free spins buy at a $1 bet: you have won $40.40 in 15 free spins, CREDIT $99,888.15The $100 buy at a $1 bet: $40.40 in 15 free spins. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.

Our $200.00 in two parts:

  • Base game, 100 spins at $1: $100.00 in, $47.75 back
  • Free Spins buy at 100x: $100.00 in, $40.40 back, the $3.00 scatter pay included

That is $88.15 back in all, and the balance fell from $100,000.00 to $99,888.15, the same figure the server log ends on. Missing from our session: free spins won by spinning, any extra spins inside the round, and play with the double chance bet on. A sample this small says nothing reliable about a 96.50% RTP or the medium badge.

Is Gates of Olympus worth trying?

The orbs set it apart from plain pay-anywhere games: they can hit on any spin, and in free spins their total stays for all 15 spins or more. A round whose total grows early can multiply every later orb win by a large figure. That is also the weak point.

The total only works on spins that bring a new orb and a win together, so a round can carry a sizeable total and still pay little. Our bought round added $1.00 in its last seven spins.

Sweet Bonanza, which we tested the same day, shows how close the two games are: the same paytable values, scatter pays and 20x or 25x bet levels, but its bombs land only in free spins and are forgotten after each spin.

The later editions push the orbs further. Gates of Olympus 2500 takes them to 2,500x with a 25,000x cap and four buys, and Gates of Olympus POP fits the formula onto a 3x5 grid without a buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the Gates of Olympus demo for free?+

Yes. This page runs Pragmatic Play's official Gates of Olympus demo with play money, no account needed. At $1 the buy button shows $100 and opens a dialog you confirm with a tick, and the double chance panel underneath starts off. The banner over the reels reminds you that four scatters win free spins, and the intro shows the medium volatility badge.

What is the difference between Gates of Olympus, 1000 and 2500?+

This page covers the 2021 original, game code vs20olympgate: orbs up to 500x and one 100x buy. Gates of Olympus 1000 keeps the 6x5 grid but lifts orbs to 1,000x and the cap from 5,000x to 15,000x. Gates of Olympus 2500, which we have tested, has orbs to 2,500x, a 25,000x cap, four buys and two Super Spin modes.

How does the free spins multiplier work in Gates of Olympus?+

Each orb that lands on a winning free spin adds its value to a total multiplier that lasts the whole round. After that, whenever a new orb lands on a winning spin, that win is multiplied by the total as well. A win without a new orb is paid at its plain value. Our bought round paid $40.40 over 15 spins.

What are the RTP and volatility of Gates of Olympus?+

The demo's rules give 96.50% for every way of playing: plain spins, the double chance bet and the 100x buy. Pragmatic Play's page shows the same 96.50%, though review sites also list lower versions such as 95.51%. The rules and intro label it medium volatility, where the sites say high. Our 100 spins returned $47.75.

What is the max win on Gates of Olympus?+

All three review sites we checked put it at 5,000x the bet, which is $5,000 at a $1 bet; the rules pages we captured give no figure. Orbs reach 500x and add up within a tumble sequence, and the free spins total can multiply further. Our best results were $6.65 in the base game and $40.40 from the $100 buy.
