Our verdict
Ghost of Dead gives the Dead series a choice: three scatters bring 10 free spins with an expanding symbol you pick from three, three Spectral scatters bring Awakened Free Spins with a second expander every spin, and a random Ghost Spin can expand a symbol in the base game. Base pays are small, there is no buy, and the game states no RTP.

What is Ghost of Dead?
The reels stand between gold-capped pillars in a teal-lit tomb, with blue flames burning in stone bowls on either side and cobwebs in the corners. A gold Ghost of Dead title with a small pyramid sits on top. The four high symbols are a silver pharaoh mask, a blue scarab, a cobra and an ankh, and the royals run from A down to 10.
It is a coins-and-lines game. You choose a coin value from 0.01 to 2.00, up to five coins a line and up to 10 lines, so a spin costs from a cent to $100. Line wins read from the leftmost reel, and a line pays its best combination only.
The paytable shows its pays in coins at the current bet. At our $1, 50 coins of 0.02, five masks on a line pay 50,000 coins, $1,000, and two pay $1. Five scarabs pay $160, five cobras or ankhs $60. A and K pay $12 for five, Q, J and 10 pay $8, and three of any royal pay 40 cents.
After every win the panel offers GAMBLE next to COLLECT, and the next spin collects the win if you leave it.
The main game at $1 after spin 100 of 100: two pharaoh masks, an ankh and a cobra among the royals, coin value 0.02, five coins, 10 lines. FluxPlays demo test, 20 October 2026.
Ghost of Dead bonus features
The Canopus jar, wild and scatter
The scatter is a Canopus jar with a jackal's head, and on any normal spin it can turn into a green Spectral scatter. Both kinds are wild and substitute for every other symbol, and both pay anywhere: three, four or five pay 2x, 20x or 200x the bet, added to any line wins. The two kinds never land on the same spin.
Paytable page 1 in our demo session: the Canopus scatter and the Spectral scatter, both wild, paying 10000, 1000 and 100 coins. FluxPlays demo test, 20 October 2026.
Ghost Spin
A Ghost Spin can activate at random on any normal spin. The Ghost picks one royal or high symbol to be a special expanding symbol for that round only. It can win across reels that are not next to each other, and when it does, every copy of it expands to fill its reel.
A Ghost Spin cannot be retriggered, and wilds never join a win made by an expanding symbol.

Free spins with a symbol you choose
Three or more normal scatters on any reels give 10 free spins. Before they start, the game offers three random royal or high symbols and you choose which one expands. Spectral scatters cannot land during the round, and three more normal scatters add another 10 spins with the same symbol.
The Free Spin page of the paytable in our demo session: 3 or more scatters, a choice of one of 3 expanding symbols, and retriggers. FluxPlays demo test, 20 October 2026.
Awakened Free Spins
Three or more Spectral scatters start 10 Awakened Free Spins instead. You choose an expanding symbol the same way, and on every spin of the round the Ghost adds a second one at random. Normal scatters cannot land here, and three more Spectral scatters add 10 spins.
The Awakened Free Spins page of the paytable in our demo session: 3 or more Spectral scatters and two expanding symbols. FluxPlays demo test, 20 October 2026.
The card gamble
Any main-game win can go on a face-down card: its colour, a 1 in 2 chance, doubles the win, and its suit, a 1 in 4 chance, quadruples it. You can gamble up to five times in a row and up to a limit of 2,500 coins. It is switched off in Auto Play, and the rules say it leaves the overall RTP unchanged.
RTP, volatility and max win
The help text, the eight paytable pages and the official page give no RTP. Review sites list 96.21% as the top version, with 94.21%, 91.21%, 87.22% and 84.22% versions that casinos can run, and rate the game high volatility. The demo does not show which version it uses.
The paytable states the cap itself: "Win up to 50000x your normal bet!", $50,000 at our $1. There is no bonus buy and no ante.

Played on Play'n GO's official practice demo in one session, from a 25,000.00 balance. The demo shows credits without a currency label; we count one credit as one dollar. Every spin was at 1.00: coins of 0.02, 5 per line, 10 lines; spins started one at a time by a script clicking the spin button, without Auto Play. Ghost of Dead has no bonus buy, ante or paid mode, and the gamble was declined after every win. Neither the free spins nor Awakened Free Spins triggered; they, the Ghost Spin and the gamble are described from the rules. The rules state no RTP, so no version is shown. Totals from the server log: $100.00 staked, $34.40 returned, ending at 24,934.40 to the cent. A sample of 100 spins says nothing reliable about the RTP or the volatility.
The demo's credits have no currency label, and we count each one as a dollar. It opened on 25,000.00 at exactly 1.00 a spin, coins of 0.02, five a line on all 10 lines, and all 100 spins ran at that bet in one session. A script started each spin, without Auto Play, and we declined the gamble after every win.
The server log and the screen close together: $100.00 staked, $34.40 returned, 24,934.40 at the end. That was the session's low; the high, 25,006.00, came after spin 2.
Spin 2 also gave the best win, a 400-coin line for $8.00, 8x the bet. After that came $4.00 on spin 24 and $3.40 on spin 33. Spin 9 paid 60 coins, $1.20, and our capture shows that result with line 9 drawn and a Canopus jar on reel 3.
Base spin 9 of 100 at $1: Won 20 coins on line 9 and WIN 60 coins, $1.20, with a Canopus jar on reel 3. FluxPlays demo test, 20 October 2026.
Of 31 winning spins, 22 paid under $1, eighteen of them 40 cents, and 91 of the 100 spins returned less than their cost. There were two losing runs of 7 spins, 34 to 40 and 74 to 80, and the last 50 spins returned only $8.60.
No free spins and no Awakened Free Spins triggered, so both are described here from the rules. Our test cannot measure the RTP or the volatility: 100 quiet spins are far too few.
Is Ghost of Dead worth trying?
The choice is what this game adds to the Dead formula. Picking your own expanding symbol from three, rather than having one drawn, lets you go for the mask's 50,000-coin line pay, and Awakened Free Spins stack a second expander on every spin. The Ghost Spin brings an expanding symbol into the base game too.
Against that, the base pays are small at $1, the stronger round needs three Spectral scatters at once, and the expanding-symbol wins never use wilds. There is no buy, and the stated cap of 50,000x sits far above anything a short session shows.
By both games' rules, Book of Dead is the plainer version of the same idea: 10 free spins and 10 more per retrigger, like here, but one expanding symbol drawn at random for the whole round, no Ghost Spin and a 250,000-coin cap of 5,000x.
Legacy of Dead answers the same question differently, adding a new random expander with each retrigger, up to nine. Our sessions returned $132.50 in Book of Dead, $91.50 in Legacy of Dead and $34.40 here, single sessions that show the spread, not a ranking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play the Ghost of Dead demo for free?+
Yes. This page loads Play'n GO's practice version, free and without an account. It holds 25,000 credits with no currency sign and opens at exactly 1.00 a spin: coins of 0.02, five a line, 10 lines, shown as a 50-coin bet. Every win stops on GAMBLE and COLLECT, and spinning again collects it.
How are Awakened Free Spins different from the normal free spins?+
Normal free spins come from three or more Canopus scatters: 10 spins with one expanding symbol you choose from three. Awakened Free Spins come from three or more green Spectral scatters: the same 10 spins and choice, plus a second expanding symbol the Ghost picks at random on every spin. Each mode retriggers with three more of its own scatter.
How is Ghost of Dead different from Book of Dead?+
Both are 5x3 with 10 lines, 10 free spins and 10 more per retrigger. Book of Dead draws its expanding symbol at random and keeps it for the round; Ghost of Dead lets you choose it, adds the Awakened mode with a second expander, and has a Ghost Spin that can expand a symbol in the base game. Its paytable states a 50,000x cap.
What is the Ghost Spin in Ghost of Dead?+
It is a base-game feature that can switch on at random on any normal spin. The Ghost chooses one royal or high symbol as an expanding symbol for that spin; it can win across reels that are not adjacent, and when it wins, it expands. It cannot retrigger, and wilds do not count toward its wins.
What are the RTP and max win of Ghost of Dead?+
The paytable reads "Win up to 50000x your normal bet!", $50,000 at $1. No RTP appears in the help, the paytable or on Play'n GO's page; review sites list 96.21% as the top of five versions, down to 84.22%. The demo does not reveal its version, so check the game information at your casino.
