Our verdict
Marlin Masters is built on one collect rule: every Fisherman on the grid collects every Marlin, times his own multiplier, so several Fishermen pay the same fish again. Its free spins add a progress bar that raises the minimum Fisherman multiplier every fourth Fisherman, up to x15 in Off the Hook!. Line wins are small, and the cap is 7,500x.

Marlin Masters: Full Review
The Marlin Masters slot is the original game of Hacksaw Gaming's Marlin Masters line, from February 2025: a 5x4 grid with 14 paylines on the deck of a boat. Marlins carry cash values, and every Fisherman on the grid collects all of them at his own multiplier, up to x20. A progress bar in the free spins raises that multiplier, and wins cap at 7,500x. Our demo test covered 100 base spins at $1, both buys and both FeatureSpins modes.

What is the Marlin Masters slot about?
The reels are framed by the rails of a fishing boat, with rods and reels at both sides and open sea and sky behind. Reel It In! adds small boats on the water, and Off the Hook! moves the trip to night under a crescent moon. This page covers the original game; The Big Haul, Atlantis and OG are separate Hacksaw slots.
Line wins start on the leftmost reel and need 3 of a kind. Five card letters pay $2 at a $1 bet, the brown grouper and green fish $5, and the red fish and blue barracuda $7.50. The Wild, a silver W bound with rope, stands in for every paytable symbol and pays $10 for five. The FS scatter is a treasure chest.
Our base game beat the 29.7% hit rate that the review sites we checked agree on, with 37 paying spins in 100.
Before our first spin at $1: the boat deck, with Fishermen at x10, x2 and x20 on the opening grid. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
Marlin Masters bonus features
Lootlines and the Marlins
Marlin symbols show cash values in multiples of the bet: 1x to 10x, then 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x and 1,000x. The rules' list leaves out 500x, but the intro card and the rules' own Marlin picture both show a 500. Three or more Marlins in a winning line are collected on their own, and a value too long to fit is shortened but never pays less than shown.
Catch Them All! and the Fisherman
If a Fisherman lands, he collects every Marlin on the grid once, times his multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15 or x20. Fishermen do not collect each other, and only one can land per reel, so up to five can share a grid and each collects the Marlins again. Our spin 3 had three at once.
Reel It In!
Reel It In! comes from three FS scatters at once: 10 free spins and the Marlin Progress Bar, which moves a step for every Fisherman that lands, whether he collects or not. Every fourth Fisherman reaches an upgrade:
- Upgrade 1: 10 more free spins, and every later Fisherman is x2 or more
- Upgrade 2: 10 more, and x4 or more
- Upgrade 3: 10 more, and x10 or more
First free spin of the Reel It In! from base spin 49: the Progress Bar above the grid and a x4 Fisherman among five Marlins. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
Off the Hook!
Off the Hook! needs four scatters and gives 15 free spins with the same bar, with every Fisherman at x2 or more from the start. Each upgrade adds 15 spins and raises the floor to x4, x10 and finally x15.
Our $200 Off the Hook! buy opened at night: 15 free spins with every Fisherman at x2 or more from the start. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
Plenty of Fish in the Sea
Five scatters at once award 10 free spins in which every Marlin is worth at least 5x and at least one Marlin and one Fisherman land on every spin. The intro screen badges it as a Hidden Epic Bonus, though the rules never use that word. It cannot be bought, and our test did not reach it. The 7,500x cap applies in every mode and ends the round when reached.
Bonus buys and FeatureSpins
BUY BONUS holds four cards priced from the bet. The bonus buys are Reel It In! at 65x and 96.27% RTP, labelled Medium volatility, and Off the Hook! at 200x and 96.3%, labelled High.
The two FeatureSpins modes stay on until DISABLE is pressed. BonusHunt costs 3x a spin and makes each spin five times as likely to start a bonus (96.31%, Very high). Fishy costs 50x and guarantees at least one Fisherman and two Marlins every spin, with no FS symbols (96.25%, High).
Under the demo's rules bets run from $0.10 to $2,000; the review sites we checked stop at $100.

Played on Hacksaw Gaming's official demo in US dollars, from the $5,000 demo balance, with the game server's log matching every round. Reel It In! triggered naturally twice: spin 49 paid $117.50, a single result, and spin 71 paid $18.30; without spin 49 the other 99 base spins returned $84.30. BonusHunt FeatureSpins: 10 spins at $3, $30.00 in, $19.30 back, no bonus. Fishy FeatureSpins: 10 spins at $50, $500.00 in, $219.70 back, every spin paid and only the last covered its price. Totals from the spin log: $895.00 staked, $574.00 returned, in one session from $5,000.00 to $4,679.00. These samples cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.
All of our play ran on Hacksaw Gaming's official demo, in US dollars from the $5,000 starting balance, and the game server's log matched every round. Across 100 base spins at $1 we got $201.80 back from 37 wins, 29 of them under $1, and the longest dry run was 9 spins.
One round made most of it. Spin 49 triggered Reel It In! naturally, and a x4 Fisherman collecting five Marlins on the first free spin paid $97.00 of the round's $117.50. That is a single result: without it, the other 99 spins returned $84.30. A second natural Reel It In! on spin 71 paid $18.30, and neither reached an upgrade.
Back on the base screen after the natural Reel It In! from spin 49 at $1: $117.50 for the round. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
Spin 3 was the best spin without a bonus. Fishermen at x1, x1 and x2 each collected the same four Marlins of $4, $1, $1 and $4, and the spin paid $41.00.
Base spin 3 of 100 at $1, settled: three Fishermen at once collecting four Marlins, $41.00. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
The $65 Reel It In! buy paid almost nothing for nine free spins, then $60.00 on the tenth from a x3 Fisherman, for $62.50. The $200 Off the Hook! buy returned $70.70: only four of its 15 free spins paid, a $50 Marlin once landed with no Fisherman to collect it, and the bar never reached an upgrade.
Ten BonusHunt FeatureSpins at $3 brought no bonus and $19.30 back, $11.00 of it from a x1 Fisherman collecting five Marlins.
Ten Fishy FeatureSpins at $50 all paid, from $8 to $51, but only the last covered its price, and the ten returned $219.70. The Marlins still pay on the $1 base bet, as our settled board of that last spin shows: $17 of Marlins collected by x1 and x2 Fishermen came to $51.00.
Fishy FeatureSpins spin 10 at $50, settled: x1 and x2 Fishermen collecting Marlins worth $17, $51.00 for the spin. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.
How each part went:
- Base game, 100 spins at $1: $100.00 in, $201.80 back
- Reel It In! buy at 65x: $65.00 in, $62.50 back
- Off the Hook! buy at 200x: $200.00 in, $70.70 back
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins, 10 spins at $3: $30.00 in, $19.30 back
- Fishy FeatureSpins, 10 spins at $50: $500.00 in, $219.70 back
One demo session covered it all, from $5,000.00 to $4,679.00, with $895.00 staked and $574.00 returned by the server log. The rules screen showed 96.24%. We never saw a Progress Bar upgrade, a retrigger or Plenty of Fish in the Sea, and these samples cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.
Is Marlin Masters worth trying?
The Fisherman is the game. Each one collects every Marlin on the grid, so two or three together pay the same fish two or three times over, at multipliers that run to x20. The free spins make that stronger as they go: four Fishermen raise the floor for every later one, and Off the Hook! starts at x2 and can climb to x15.
The ceiling, 7,500x, sits below Le Bandit's 10,000x and Le Fisherman's 15,000x, and line wins are small, with five card letters paying twice the bet. Each upgrade needs four more Fishermen, and Fishy FeatureSpins forces the symbols at 50x a spin while paying Marlins on the base bet.
Hacksaw's intro meter gives 3 out of 5 for volatility and the rules add no word, while the buy cards range from Medium for Reel It In! to Very high for BonusHunt. Besides 96.24%, the review sites we checked list 94.39%, 92.35% and 88.35% versions.
Le Fisherman, a year newer, has the same kind of free spins bar by both games' rules: its Big Catch Bar counts FS symbols and levels up every fifth, adding 5 spins, where this bar counts Fishermen and upgrades every fourth, adding 10 or 15. Both keep a five-scatter round off the buy menu, and Le Fisherman's cap is 15,000x.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play the Marlin Masters demo for free?+
Yes. This page runs Hacksaw Gaming's own Marlin Masters demo with $5,000 in play money and no account; it opened at a $2.00 bet for us. All four BUY BONUS cards work, and while Fishy FeatureSpins is on, at least one Fisherman and two Marlins land on every spin, but no FS scatters, so that mode never starts a bonus.
Is this the original Marlin Masters?+
Yes. This is the February 2025 original, the 5x4, 14-line game with Reel It In!, Off the Hook! and Plenty of Fish in the Sea. Marlin Masters: The Big Haul, Marlin Masters: Atlantis and Marlin Masters OG are separate Hacksaw slots with their own rules, and none of their figures appear on this page.
How does the Fisherman work in Marlin Masters?+
Each Fisherman collects every Marlin on the grid once, times his multiplier of x1 to x20. Only one can land per reel, but several can share the grid, and each collects the same Marlins again. On our base spin 3, Fishermen at x1, x1 and x2 collected Marlins worth $10 between them, and the spin paid $41.00.
What does the Marlin Progress Bar do?+
It runs in the free spins and moves one step for every Fisherman that lands. Every fourth Fisherman adds spins and raises the minimum multiplier for the rest of the round: to x2, x4 and x10 in Reel It In!, and to x4, x10 and x15 in Off the Hook!, which starts at x2. None of our four rounds reached an upgrade.
What are the RTP and max win of Marlin Masters?+
Our demo's rules gave 96.24%, with 96.25% to 96.31% for the buys and FeatureSpins. Hacksaw's page lists no versions, but the review sites we checked name 94.39%, 92.35% and 88.35% as well. The cap is 7,500x the bet in every mode, and the top Marlin is worth 1,000x.
