What is the Big Bass Halloween Splash 1000 slot about?

The lake has become an autumn swamp, with orange leaves overhead, mist on the water and a green cauldron labelled EXTRA CHANCE bubbling to the right of the reels. The fisherman on the left is a cheerful vampire in waders, and the win screens are iron plaques with bat wings.

The low pays are jelly-sweet 10, J, Q, K and A; the others are a bat, a fishing rod, a coffin of sweets and the top-paying monster truck, worth 200x the bet for five. Fish show cash values in the base game too, but there they pay only as a line symbol. Wins pay left to right on 10 fixed lines.

The cauldron and two-scatter help

Two scatters in the base game go into the cauldron, and each collection has a random chance to start free spins on the spot. When two land without a third, the game can also respin with them moved down a row, or drop in an extra scatter. A full trigger needs three scatters for 10 free spins, four for 15 or five for 20.

Fisherman wild and money fish

In free spins a fisherman wild collects every fish value on screen when he lands. Fish are worth 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 1,000x the bet. Every fourth fisherman adds 10 spins and lifts collections to 2x, then 3x, then 10x, and after the fourth level there are no more retriggers. A round that reaches 20,000x the bet ends at once.

Pumpkin upgrades

Every free spins round opens with a pick of six pumpkins. The outcomes are More Fishermen, Start From Level 2, More Fish, More Treats, +2 Spins or no reward at all. A pumpkin symbol landing on reel 5 during the round opens another pick, and any upgrade it brings comes with at least five more spins at the current level.

Random helpers in free spins

The rules name three random helpers. A trick or treat spin drops fish onto the reels when fishermen land without any, spiders pull reels up to bring in a fisherman when fish land alone, and a bazooka can swap every symbol except the fishermen. The More Treats upgrade makes all three more likely.

Ante bet and bonus buys

Switching on the ante costs 50% more per spin and loads more scatters onto the reels, and the rules say it disables Buy Free Spins. Buy Free Spins costs 100x; Buy Super Free Spins costs 450x and raises the chance of 1,000x fish (MORE 1000X FISH ADDED, says its confirmation box). Both bonus buys run at 96.50% RTP, like the ante and the base game.

What changed from Big Bass Splash 1000

This is the Halloween version of Big Bass Splash 1000: the fisherman becomes a vampire, the base game gains the cauldron, and the pumpkin upgrades are new. Next to Big Bass Vegas 1000, another Reel Kingdom game we have tested, it has one fisherman instead of two and 10 to 20 starting spins instead of 15 to 25, but a higher cap, 20,000x against 15,000x. Both use a 2x, 3x and 10x retrigger ladder.

Our Big Bass Halloween Splash 1000 demo test

The test ran in two demo sessions. The first, with the 100 base spins and the $100 buy, expired during a pause and asked us to log in, so we reloaded the page and played the $450 Super buy in a new session. Each session reconciles to its own server balance, and across both we staked $650 and got $99.90 back.

The base game was quiet. Our 100 spins at $1 returned $38.70 from 20 wins, 9 of them under $1, and the longest dry run lasted 17 spins. Three spins made $22.00 of the total: $10.00 on spin 95, $7.00 on spin 91 and $5.00 on spin 77. On spin 95 the fish on reels 1 to 4 paid as line symbols; their printed values counted for nothing.

Two scatters landed on seven spins. On spins 4, 12 and 52 the respin dropped them a row, but no third scatter came, and we never saw the extra scatter or the cauldron start free spins.

The $100 Buy Free Spins landed three scatters for 10 spins. Its opening pick lit no upgrade on screen; the game's server data points to More Treats. Only one fisherman arrived, on free spin 7, and collected $19.00 from four fish. A 50x fish worth $50 had landed on free spin 2 with nobody to collect it. With a $0.20 line, the round paid $19.20.

The $450 Buy Super Free Spins also landed three scatters and 10 spins, and its first pumpkin held nothing. On free spin 4 a pumpkin symbol reopened the pick for More Fish, and the round's only fisherman collected $14.00. Free spin 6 paid $23.00 from fish as line symbols, but three 1,000x fish, worth $1,000 each, landed on free spins 3 and 10 with no fisherman. It paid $42.00.

Neither round retriggered, so the 2x, 3x and 10x collections went unseen, as did the trick or treat spin, the spiders, the bazooka, a natural trigger and the ante. A hundred spins and two buys cannot measure the 96.50% RTP or the medium rating.

Is Big Bass Halloween Splash 1000 worth trying?

The Halloween dressing is more than paint. The cauldron gives two-scatter spins a second chance at the bonus, the pumpkin picks can add fishermen, fish, spins or a head start at level 2, and the 1,000x fish and 20,000x cap give a round real reach. Everything, from the ante to both buys, sits at 96.50% RTP.

It still lives or dies by the fisherman. There is only one, fish pay nothing without him, and neither a buy nor an upgrade can promise he lands. Our two rounds each saw him once, while a $50 fish and three $1,000 fish went uncollected. The base game, at about one win in seven spins, does not carry much on its own.
