Our verdict
Rat Royale is built on wilds: normal wilds carry up to x100 and add their multipliers in a win, and a rat king wild on the middle reel uses one of four gems to gather, spread or create multipliers. Blood Lust, where the king fills the middle reel and keeps what it adds, is the feature worth chasing, but it needs five scatters, Ante Bet 2 or the 500x buy, and the base game pays little without wilds.
Who it suits
Play this if…
- You like wild multipliers that stack: several wilds in one win add their values together
- You want a feature with a growing multiplier: Blood Lust keeps everything the rat king adds
- You want choice in how you play: two ante bets, two buys and three free spins variants
Skip this if…
- You want steady base-game wins: the rats pay $3 for five at most, and our 100 spins hit 22 times
- You want the best bonus without paying for it: Blood Lust needs five scatters, Ante Bet 2 or the 500x buy
- You dislike rounds settled by one spin: our Super buy owed most of its $679.40 to a single free spin

Rat Royale: Full Review
Rat Royale is Pragmatic Play's new rat-kingdom slot, released on 22 October 2026: a 5x5 grid with up to 259 ways, wilds that carry multipliers of up to x100, and a rat king wild on the middle reel whose four gems change how those multipliers combine. Three, four or five scatters open one of three free spins variants, and the top one, Blood Lust, can be bought outright. We played the Rat Royale slot demo for 100 spins at $1, bought both features and tried both ante bets.

What is the Rat Royale slot?
The grid sits in a cobwebbed stone crypt, with a crowned rat on a throne of gold to the right and the buy and special-bet panels on the left. The symbols are four armoured rats, each clutching a red, purple, green or blue gem, and the card ranks 10 to A.
Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels, but not on fixed lines: a winning chain can step to the same row or one row up or down on each reel, which gives up to 259 ways across the 5x5 grid.
At a $1 bet the red-gem rat pays $3 for five, the purple $1.50, the green $1 and the blue 75 cents; the card ranks pay 30 to 60 cents for five and 10 to 15 cents for three.
Those pays are small on purpose. Almost all of the game's value comes through the wilds and their multipliers, which is where the rules spend most of their pages.
The bet runs from $0.20 to $1,200, the top end reached only with the second ante bet. The demo opened at $2 and we lowered it to $1 with the minus button.

Rat Royale bonus features
Wilds with multipliers up to x100
The normal wild stands in for everything except the scatter and lands with a random multiplier: x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x8, x10, x12, x15, x25, x50 or x100. Every win that passes through it is multiplied, and when several wilds sit in the same win their multipliers are added together, not multiplied. Up to three wilds can land on a single reel.
The rat king wild and its four gems
The rat king wild appears only on reel 3. It substitutes like a normal wild, carries a bigger random multiplier, from x2 up to x500, and holds one of four gems that decide what it does:
- Red: if the spin has a win, it expands to fill the whole reel and gains +1 to its multiplier for every red-gem rat on screen
- Purple: adds the multipliers of all normal wilds on screen to its own
- Green: adds its own multiplier to every normal wild on screen
- Blue: turns every blue-gem rat on screen into a normal wild with a random multiplier
The gems pull in different directions: purple gathers value into the king, green spreads it out, and blue manufactures new wilds. That variety is the best idea in the game.

Three free spins variants
Three, four or five scatters award 10 free spins, and the count decides the variant:
- Blood Ritual (3 scatters): like the base game, but every wild carries at least x2
- Blood Pact (4 scatters): a rat king wild always sits in the centre cell, gets a random gem every spin, and keeps the multipliers it adds until the end
- Blood Lust (5 scatters): a fully expanded rat king wild covers the middle reel, gets a random gem every spin and keeps its added multipliers to the end
Three or more scatters during the round add 5 more spins, and special reels are in play.
Ante bets and the two buys
Ante Bet 1 raises the bet multiplier from 20x to 50x, $2.50 at a $1 base, for four times the free spins chance. Ante Bet 2 costs 100x, $5, and turns every trigger into Blood Lust.
The buy menu offers the Free Spins for 100x, $100, where the scatters that land set the variant, or the Super Free Spins for 500x, $500, with Blood Lust guaranteed. After a buy, a REBUY button repeats it at the same price.
The buy menu in our demo session: Free Spins for $100 and Super Free Spins for $500 with Blood Lust guaranteed, at a $1 base bet. FluxPlays demo test, 25 October 2026.
RTP, volatility and max win
The rules give 96.52% for normal play, 96.54% with Ante Bet 1, 96.48% with Ante Bet 2, 96.54% for the Free Spins buy and 96.52% for the Super buy; review sites also list 95.50% and 94.53% versions. The game is rated medium volatility, and the cap is 15,000x the bet: a feature that reaches it ends at once.

Played on Pragmatic's public demo on 25 October with play money, from a $100,000 balance. The demo opened at $2 and was lowered to $1 (0.05 x 20). Ante was off for the 100 base spins and both buys. Free spins did not trigger in the 100 base spins. Ante Bet 1 ($2.50, 10 spins) triggered Blood Ritual on its third spin for $14.70 and returned $15.35 on $25; Ante Bet 2 ($5.00, 10 spins) returned $24.10 on $50 with no trigger. Blood Pact was not seen. Each buy and each ante session is a single result. Totals over all 122 paid rounds: $775.00 staked, $792.60 returned, ending at $100,017.60 on the server and on screen. 100 spins and one round per buy cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.
We played Pragmatic's public demo on 25 October in dollars, from a $100,000 balance. The base spins and both buys ran with the ante off; each ante bet then got 10 spins of its own. Over all 122 paid rounds the server log and the screen agree: $775.00 staked, $792.60 back.
The base game was cold. Only 22 of the 100 spins paid, 14 of them under $1, the longest losing run lasted 12 spins, 25 to 36, and no free spins came. One spin carried it: on spin 6, six normal wilds landed at once, one of them x3, and a five-of-a-kind red-gem rat line paid $18.00 of the $22.65 total.
Base spin 6 of 100 at $1, settled: six wilds on the grid, one at x3, $22.65 for the spin and the credit updated. FluxPlays demo test, 25 October 2026.
Without spin 6 the other 99 spins returned $23.35, so the base game gave back $46.00 on $100.
The $100 Free Spins buy landed only three scatters, so Blood Ritual. It retriggered once for 15 spins in all and paid $27.75, well short of its price.
The $500 Super buy was the session's high point. Blood Lust's expanded rat king started at x12 and kept adding, reaching x22 by the end; free spin 6 alone paid $533.30, and the round closed at $679.40, 1.36x its price.
Blood Lust from the $500 Super buy, 9 free spins left: the expanded rat king wild on the middle reel at x12 with a blue gem. FluxPlays demo test, 25 October 2026.
The Super Free Spins buy settled at $1: the rat king wild at x22, WIN $679.40, FREE SPINS COMPLETED and the credit updated. FluxPlays demo test, 25 October 2026.
The ante bets told a mixed story. Ante Bet 1 triggered free spins on its third spin, but only Blood Ritual, for $14.70, and its 10 spins returned $15.35 on $25. Ante Bet 2 brought no trigger in 10 spins; one $24.00 hit made its return $24.10 on $50.
We never saw Blood Pact, a multiplier above x22 or anything near the cap. These are single results, and 122 rounds say nothing reliable about the RTP or the volatility.
Is Rat Royale worth trying?
Our view: Rat Royale is one of Pragmatic's better wild-multiplier designs. The rule that adds wild multipliers together, rather than multiplying them, keeps any one hit in check, but the rat king's gems give the game real variety, and in Blood Lust the kept multipliers turn the middle reel into a growing threat for the whole round. That is exactly what our $679.40 round showed.
The weak points are just as clear. The base game leans almost entirely on wilds, with symbol pays of a few dollars at best, and the 100x buy can hand you the plainest variant. Blood Lust is the real game here, and it costs 500x to guarantee it, or $5 a spin at a $1 base on Ante Bet 2 while you wait for a trigger.
By both games' rules, 5 Lions Megaways is the nearest live comparison: a wild that applies a random multiplier, up to 40x there, and a 100x free spins buy. Rat Royale goes further: several wilds in a win add their multipliers together up to x100 each, the king adds gem effects, and the cap is 15,000x against 5,000x there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play the Rat Royale demo for free?+
Yes. This page loads Pragmatic Play's own demo with play money and no account. It opens at a $2 bet, so use the minus button to drop to $1 or lower, and both buys and both ante bets work in the demo. After a bought round, a REBUY button offers the same feature again at the same price.
What does the rat king wild do in Rat Royale?+
It lands only on reel 3 with a multiplier from x2 to x500 and one of four gems. Red expands it over the reel and adds +1 per red-gem rat, purple collects the normal wilds' multipliers, green adds its own to every normal wild, and blue turns blue-gem rats into new wilds with random multipliers.
What are the Rat Royale free spins variants?+
Three scatters give 10 spins of Blood Ritual, where every wild is at least x2. Four give Blood Pact, with a rat king fixed in the centre cell. Five give Blood Lust, with a fully expanded rat king on the middle reel. In both of those the king gets a new gem each spin and keeps its added multipliers.
How much is the Rat Royale bonus buy?+
The Free Spins buy costs 100x the bet, $100 at $1, and the scatters it lands decide the variant; ours gave Blood Ritual and $27.75. The Super Free Spins buy costs 500x and guarantees Blood Lust; ours paid $679.40. The rules give 96.54% and 96.52% RTP for the two buys.
What are the RTP and max win of Rat Royale?+
The rules state 96.52% for normal play, 96.54% with Ante Bet 1 and 96.48% with Ante Bet 2; review sites also list 95.50% and 94.53% versions. The maximum win is 15,000x the bet, and a feature that reaches it ends at once. The game is rated medium volatility.
