Sunnydaze Asylum is a one-idea game, but the idea works: silver multipliers add up and gold ones multiply the total, so a single reveal can turn a small tumble into a big win. The base game leans on the Multiplier Scatter for its bigger hits, and in our test the 400x Super Free Spins 2, the only buy that always reveals five multipliers, was the only one that got close to its price back.

Who it suits

Play this if…

  • You like tumble slots where a multiplier reveal can turn a small win into a big one
  • You want buys whose price clearly changes the feature: more scatters means more multipliers
  • You like a bright theme with a dark sense of humour

Skip this if…

  • You want more than one feature: nearly everything runs through the Multiplier Scatter
  • You expect natural free spins: we saw none in 200 spins, and the official odds are 1 in 299
  • You hope a cheaper buy will pay: our 100x and 200x rounds returned $22.10 and $24.80

Sunnydaze Asylum: Full Review

Sunnydaze Asylum is a Pragmatic Play slot set in a pastel padded cell, where a masked doctor holding electric clamps watches over a 5x5 grid of pills and asylum gear. It launched on 27 July 2026 with 3,125 ways to win, tumbling wins, a 96.53% top RTP and a 10,000x cap. Almost everything in it runs through one feature: a Multiplier Scatter that reveals silver and gold multipliers. We played 200 spins of the Sunnydaze Asylum demo at $1 and bought all three free spins options.

What is the Sunnydaze Asylum slot about?

The joke is in the contrast. The cell walls are covered in crayon drawings of suns, trees and rainbows, the logo sits under a rainbow, and the doctor beside the reels looks anything but caring. In free spins the cell disappears and the game moves to a sunny meadow with a stream. Three pipes sit above the reels in the base game and five in free spins, and that is where the multipliers appear.

Five pills are the low pays, worth 0.3x to 0.5x the bet for five of a kind. The higher pays are asylum equipment, worth 0.75x to 4x: a mouth gag, a security camera, a bone saw, a face mask and a straitjacket. The wild is a candy jar that lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4 and stands in for everything except the two scatters.

Wins pay for three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left, and every win tumbles: the winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in until no new win forms. Pragmatic Play quotes a 27.93% hit rate. In our test 62 of 200 spins paid something, 22 of them less than the $1 stake, and the longest tumble chain ran nine drops after the first win.

Sunnydaze Asylum bonus features

Multiplier Scatter

Only one Multiplier Scatter can land per spin. When the tumbles finish, it reveals one to three multipliers on the pipes in the base game, and up to five in free spins. Each one is silver or gold. Silver values run from 2x to 100x and are added together. Gold values run from 2x to 10x, and each gold multiplies the silver total. The final figure then multiplies the whole tumble win.

That is how the numbers climb. Silver 5 + 3 + 3 is x11, but add two gold x4 and it becomes x176, the highest we saw. The scatter needs a win to work on: it landed on 10 of our 200 base spins, and the one time it landed on a spin with no win, there was nothing to multiply.

Free spins

Three or more scatters award 10 free spins. During the round, two, three, four or five scatters add 3, 5, 10 or 15 more. The number of scatters that started the round sets how many multipliers each reveal can show: one to five after three scatters, three to five after four, and always five after five.

Special bets and bonus buys

Two Special Bets raise the chance of free spins. Ante Bet 1 costs 1.5x the bet and doubles the chance, and Ante Bet 2 costs 3x and makes it five times higher. That is why the top bet is $240 but the most you can stake per spin is $720. We left both off.

The Buy Feature jar offers three rounds. Free Spins costs 100x. Super Free Spins 1 costs 200x and guarantees at least four scatters, and Super Free Spins 2 costs 400x and guarantees five, so every reveal shows five multipliers. The game's rules list 96.51%, 96.49% and 96.51% RTP for the three buys, and 96.48% and 96.53% for the two ante bets. Our guide to bonus buy slots explains what that price covers.

Played on the official demo with play money. 200 spins is a small sample: it shows how a session can feel, not the game's long-run RTP or volatility.

The base game never gave us free spins. Two scatters landed on seven spins, but three never did. What kept the session going was the Multiplier Scatter. It revealed multipliers on nine spins, all silver, with totals from x2 to x10, and those nine spins returned $76.50, 44% of everything the base game paid. The best was spin 64, where a $5.45 tumble chain met silver x3 and x2 for x5 and paid $27.25. Spin 25 came close: $2.80 times x9 for $25.20. Without a multiplier, our best win was $11.35 from a seven-drop chain. The 200 spins returned $175.10, or 87.6% of what we staked.

The buys showed how much the scatter count matters. The $100 Free Spins started with three scatters and revealed multipliers twice, x4 and x6, both silver, on wins of $3.50 and $1.30. It paid $22.10. The $200 Super Free Spins 1 started with four scatters and added three spins, but the Multiplier Scatter only connected on the very last one: three silver x5 for x15 on a $0.40 win. It paid $24.80.

The $400 Super Free Spins 2 was a different game. The Multiplier Scatter landed on 8 of its 13 spins and showed all five multipliers each time, with gold multipliers in four of those reveals. That gave us x108 on a $0.90 win ($97.20), x160 on $0.50 ($80.00), x72 on $0.90 ($64.80) and x176 on $0.25 ($44.00). The round paid $373.75. It was also the only round where we saw gold at all.

Sunnydaze Asylum Super Free Spins 2: silver x5, x10 and x3 and two gold x2 make x72, turning the spin into $64.80Silver 5 + 10 + 3 is x18, and two gold x2 make it x72. FluxPlays demo test, 15 October 2026.

Notice where the money came from. The largest multiplier we saw was x176, yet our best spin was the x108, because the tumble wins underneath the four best spins were only $0.25 to $0.90. In total the three buys cost $700 and returned $420.65, with one round doing almost all of the work.

Sunnydaze Asylum SENSATIONAL win screen: a pink straitjacket with a unicorn badge under a rainbow, counting up toward the $64.80 free spin winThe win screens step up from Nice to Mega to Sensational. FluxPlays demo test, 15 October 2026.

At our $1 bet, NICE played for $23.10 and $28.50, MEGA for $44.00 and SENSATIONAL for $64.80 and up. On SENSATIONAL the crayon animals turn red-eyed and the flying pill bottles grow fangs, and the count-up for $97.20 ran for about half a minute. After each buy, a Rebuy button with the same price appears under the jar.

Is Sunnydaze Asylum worth trying?

It is if you like tumble slots where one symbol can change a spin. The silver and gold system is easy to follow once you have seen it, the RTP stays between 96.48% and 96.53% across the base game, buys and ante bets, and the theme commits fully to its dark joke, from the crayon walls to the fanged pill bottles.

Sources disagree on volatility. Some review sites list Sunnydaze Asylum as high, but the game's own intro screen and Pragmatic Play's game sheet both say medium, so that is what we list. Our base game fitted that label: regular small hits, no dry run longer than eight spins, and the multiplier giving the occasional spike. The buys are another matter. The same feature paid $22.10, $24.80 and $373.75, and only the 400x option guarantees the five-multiplier reveals that made our big numbers. Our volatility guide explains why one result says little. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the Sunnydaze Asylum demo for free?+

Yes. The Sunnydaze Asylum demo on this page is Pragmatic Play's official play-money version, with no sign-up or deposit. It opens at a $2 bet, which the minus button steps down to $1, and all three free spins buys work in it. It is the version we used for our 200-spin test.

What is the RTP of Sunnydaze Asylum?+

96.53% in its standard version, with 95.53% and 94.51% versions that some casinos run instead. In the version we played, the rules list 96.48% and 96.53% for the two ante bets and 96.49% to 96.51% for the three bonus buys.

Is Sunnydaze Asylum high or medium volatility?+

Medium, according to the game's own intro screen and Pragmatic Play's game sheet, although some review sites list it as high. In our test the base game returned 87.6% over 200 spins with no dry run longer than eight spins, while the three bonus buys paid anywhere from 12% to 93% of their price.

How do the silver and gold multipliers work?+

Silver multipliers, from 2x to 100x, are added together. Each gold multiplier, from 2x to 10x, then multiplies that silver total, and the result multiplies the whole tumble win. Silver 5 + 3 + 3 with two gold x4 made the x176 we saw in our test.

How many free spins can you win in Sunnydaze Asylum?+

Three or more scatters award 10 free spins. During the round, two to five scatters add 3, 5, 10 or 15 more. Both of our Super Free Spins buys added three spins for a total of 13.
