Brew Brothers

Brew Brothers is a Slotmill slot from 30 January 2024: two moonshining brothers, a red barn in the woods and a 5x4 board with 40 fixed lines. Its Wilds are jugs that can carry x2 or x3, and Old Betty, a copper still on the outer reels, can add more to the middle three. The volatility is Very High by Slotmill's own label, the RTP 96.09% and the cap 12,000x. Our Brew Brothers demo test covered 100 spins at $1, all three bonus buys and both feature modes.

What is the Brew Brothers slot about?

The reels sit in a dark timber frame in a sunny forest clearing, with a red barn on the right and a moose warning sign on the left. Free spins switch the scene to night, with lights in the windows.

Wins pay left to right on 40 fixed lines, from three of a kind on adjacent reels starting at reel 1, and each line pays only its best win.

Old Betty pays most, $25 for five at a $1 bet, and so does her golden free spins form. The brothers come next, one in a red cap and glasses at $12.50 and the other in a green cap and sunglasses at $10, then sugar, yeast, corn and a water bucket at $2.25 to $5. A, K, Q and J pay $1.40 to $1.60 for five.

The Wild is a jug marked W that lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4 and replaces everything except the Bonus crate. It can land with x2 or x3, the multiplier counts on every line the Wild is part of, and several multipliers on one line are added together.

Brew Brothers bonus features

Old Betty

Old Betty is a Wild as well, but only on reels 1 and 5, one per reel. When she lands she has a chance to activate and add 1 to 9 Wilds to reels 2, 3 and 4, and a Wild added where one already sits raises that Wild's multiplier by x1.

Bonus crates

The Bonus symbol, a crate of jugs, lands on reels 2, 3 and 4. When fewer than three arrive, each one turns into a single Wild, so a near miss still helps the spin.

Free Spins with Sticky Wilds

Three Bonus crates award 7 free spins. Every Wild that lands on reels 2, 3 or 4 stays in place until the end, no Bonus symbols appear, and the round cannot be retriggered.

An Old Betty landing with the trigger or during the round becomes a Gold Betty. She stays for the whole bonus and may fire on every spin.

The Tractor

Filling reels 2, 3 and 4 completely with Wilds during free spins starts the Tractor: one giant Wild covers all three reels and counts as a Wild on every position there. Multipliers above x1 on the Wilds it replaces are added to it, and each further Wild from a Gold Betty raises it by x1. None of our three bonus rounds got there.

Fast Track and Xtra-Bet

Fast Track holds five options, and whichever one is switched on is charged again on every spin until you turn it off. Three are bonus buys: Free Spins at 90x the bet (96.26% RTP), Random Gold Betty Free Spins at 300x (96.29%), which starts with one Gold Betty or, 37.9% of the time, two, and 2 Gold Betty Free Spins at 600x (96.38%).

The two cheaper options improve a single spin. Old Betty at 30x (96.19%) lands two Old Betty symbols, and 2+ Bonus symbols at 10x (96.18%) lands at least two Bonus crates, which its box puts at a 1 in 10 chance of free spins.

Xtra-Bet, a toggle below Fast Track, adds 50% to the stake for 2.5 times the free spins chance at 96.08%, pays on the base bet and cannot run with Fast Track. We left it and Burst Mode off. Bets run from $0.20 to $60 over 23 levels.

Our Brew Brothers demo test

We played Slotmill's official demo in US dollars from $6,000.00, 100 times the $60 top bet, at $1. The game server's log runs through all 123 rounds without a break, and its last balance matches the screen. The 100 base spins returned $36.95 from 22 wins, nine of them under $1. No free spins came, and the longest losing run lasted 11 spins.

Spin 4 was the best, three red-capped brothers and a x2 Wild for $10.00, and spin 58 paid $5.10. Take spin 4 away and the remaining 99 made $26.95 from 21 wins.

We then bought each round once. The $90 Free Spins gave 7 spins at night. The round stood at $19.65 as the sixth began, with sticky W, W and x3 Wilds on reels 2 and 3, and closed at $92.85, $2.85 over its price.

The $300 Random Gold Betty round drew two Gold Bettys, on reels 1 and 5, and they kept adding Wilds. It had $108.85 as the sixth spin played and finished at $265.65. Its final board left the middle reels two symbols short of the Tractor.

The $600 2 Gold Betty round started slowly, with $70.75 after five spins. Then the middle reels filled with sticky x2 and x3 Wilds, and the sixth spin took the total to $367.85 and the seventh to $795.25. That was 1.33x the price and the session's best result, a single one; it never reached the Tractor either.

All three rounds made most of their money on the last two spins: $73.20 of $92.85, $156.80 of $265.65 and $724.50 of $795.25. As sticky Wilds pile up, each later spin starts with more of them.

Ten Old Betty spins at $30 each paid every time, from $2.50 to $90.10, and returned $248.30 for $300; without the $90.10 spin, the other nine made $158.20. Ten 2+ Bonus symbols spins at $10 brought $4.70 and no free spins.

The server log puts the session at $1,490.00 staked and $1,443.70 returned, from $6,000.00 to $5,953.70, and the intro and rules showed 96.09%. We never saw a natural bonus, the Tractor or a round with a single Gold Betty, and samples this small tell you nothing reliable about the RTP or the volatility.

Is Brew Brothers worth trying?

The Wilds carry this game. They land with multipliers that add up along a line, Old Betty can drop up to nine more onto the middle reels, and every Bonus crate that misses becomes one too. In free spins they all stay, and a Gold Betty keeps adding to them, so a round tends to finish far stronger than it starts.

The base game is the weak side. Three of a kind on most symbols pays well under the bet, free spins need three crates on the middle reels, and the round itself lasts 7 spins with no retrigger.

Fast Track runs from a 10x spin with at least two crates to the 600x round with both Gold Bettys, and every option's RTP sits above the base game's 96.09%, rising with the price to 96.38%. Slotmill rates the game Very High, as every Fast Track box does, so the High seen elsewhere does not match.

Outlaws shares the core idea, by both games' rules: a Wild that lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4, sticks for the whole of free spins and adds its multiplier to the others on a line. Outlaws builds those multipliers with a crosshair on a 5x3, 20-line board and sells nothing, where Brew Brothers adds Old Betty, 40 lines, Fast Track and a 12,000x cap against 5,000x.

Dead Man's Drop also keeps its multiplier Wilds sticky through free spins and sells a similar Fast Track menu of rounds and cheaper single-spin options, but on a 6x6 cluster grid.
