What is the Lucky Drums 88 slot about?

The base game sits under the eaves of a red temple at dusk, with golden dragons coiled around the pillars and a lion-dance head grinning in the corner. The jackpot panel runs down the left and the Buy Respins and Special Bets panels down the right. Hold & Spin moves to the same temple at night, with two grids side by side.

Seven or more of one symbol anywhere make a win (one review site says eight, but the paytable starts at seven), paid in tiers of 7 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 or more. At a $1 bet, 12 or more gold coin bags pay $15, lion statues $10, red envelopes $5 and lanterns $3, down to $0.60 for 12 or more 10s. Wins tumble and are paid when the tumbles end.

Silver and gold coins

Silver and gold coins can land on any reel and fly up to the drum of their colour. The rules give each coin one of four random outcomes. It can trigger Hold & Spin, or be stored on the drum, up to 8 per drum, kept between spins and added to its grid when Hold & Spin triggers naturally. It can drop back with a money value or a multiplier, or it can vanish with nothing.

Money values are 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x, 8x, 10x and 20x the bet, plus the Mini at 10x, the Minor at 25x, the Major at 100x and the Grand at 1,000x. A multiplier coin of x2, x3, x5 or x10 multiplies the total win of that tumble sequence.

Hold & Spin

The silver drum opens a silver 5x3 grid and the gold drum a gold one; both can run at once, and with one running a drum symbol can open the other. Stored coins are placed on their grid at the start. Any coin or drum resets the 3 respins and money coins stick, while multiplier coins multiply every money coin on screen and then leave. Filling a whole grid adds an extra 1,000x Grand.

Ante bets and Buy Respins

Three ante bets, which we did not test, guarantee a coin on every base spin: Ante Bet 1 costs 2.5x the bet for a silver coin, Ante Bet 2 3.5x for a gold one and Ante Bet 3 5x for both, at 96.58%, 96.53% and 96.57% RTP. The one bonus buy, Buy Respins, costs 200x, opens both grids and adds up to 8 random coins to each, at 96.56% RTP.

Our Lucky Drums 88 demo test

Our 100 base spins at $1 returned $28.20 from 28 wins, 20 of them under $1, and the longest dry run lasted 11 spins. Coins landed on 21 spins, but only three became money: $1.00 on spin 47, $0.50 on spin 83 and $8.00 on spin 90. The game server's log shows two more becoming x5 and x2 multipliers, on spins 40 and 75, with no win to multiply.

Spin 90, our biggest base win, shows how much the coins carry. Seven Ks paid $0.40, and a silver coin worth $8.00 on the same spin made it $8.40. Without that spin, the base game returned $19.80. Coins were stored on the drums three times, and the drums ended the session holding 3 silver and 2 gold, but Hold & Spin never triggered naturally.

The $200 Buy Respins opened both grids, 7 coins on the silver one, including a $25 Minor, and 3 on the gold. Over 9 respins one more silver coin and three gold coins landed, each resetting the count. The round paid $75.50, $36.50 from 8 silver coins and $39.00 from 6 gold ones. No multiplier coin landed, neither grid was filled, and no Major or Grand appeared.

Across the base game and the buy we staked $300.00 and got $103.70 back. Because Hold & Spin never came naturally, we never saw stored coins placed on a grid, and the ante bets stayed off under our test protocol. One buy and 100 spins say nothing reliable about the 96.53% RTP or the volatility.

Is Lucky Drums 88 worth trying?

The coin system gives a pay-anywhere game real texture. Every coin is a small lottery, stored coins carry over toward a bigger Hold & Spin, and two grids, multiplier coins and a 1,000x Grand for a full grid give the bonus a high ceiling. The ante bets let you pay for a guaranteed coin every spin.

The symbol pays are small for a 25-position grid, with 12 or more of the top symbol paying 15x, so the game leans on coins turning into money or multipliers. Most of ours did neither. The buy guarantees both grids, but not what the coins are worth.
