Rise of Olympus turns each spin into a shrinking 5x5 puzzle: wins empty the grid without refilling it, the multiplier climbs with every drop, and a god steps in on spins that miss. Clearing the board brings free spins with a choice of three gods, a multiplier that carries over to x20 and 100x for another clear. The base game pays in cents most of the time, there are no buys, and the game states no RTP.

Who it suits

Play this if…

  • You like a grid that shrinks as you win, with a multiplier that rises on every drop
  • You want to choose your bonus: 4, 5 or 8 free spins, each with its own god's power on every losing spin
  • You enjoy chasing a full clear, which opens the bonus in the base game and pays 100x inside it

Skip this if…

  • You want a bonus buy, an ante or a gamble: the game has none
  • You need the RTP from the game itself: its rules state none
  • You want steady base-game returns: a line of three object symbols pays 10 to 15 cents at $1

Rise of Olympus: Full Review

Rise of Olympus is Play'n GO's Greek gods grid from August 2018: a 5x5 board where lines of three or more pay, winning symbols vanish, the rest drop and nothing new falls in. A multiplier climbs with every drop, Zeus, Poseidon or Hades steps in on spins that miss, and clearing the whole grid opens free spins with a choice of three god modes. There is no buy, so we tested the Rise of Olympus slot demo with 100 spins at $1.

What is Rise of Olympus?

The grid stands between marble columns. On the left sit the multiplier readout, a list of the round's wins and the Wrath of Olympus meter; on the right stands whichever god is active. In our session the background and the god on the right changed with the active god; Hades brings a red volcanic scene.

This is the 2018 original: Rise of Olympus 100, Origins, Extreme and 1000 are separate games.

Wins are straight lines, not clusters: three, four or five matching symbols side by side in any row or column, so all ten rows and columns are live. One symbol can count in several wins at once, and only the best win per combination is paid.

The gold coin with a winged horse is the wild and stands in for every symbol. When a win of exactly three is removed, a wild appears in its middle position, and when wilds are the only symbols left on the grid they are removed too, which helps clear the board.

At a $1 bet five wilds pay $50, and five of Zeus, Poseidon or Hades $10 each. Any mix of the three gods pays $5 for five and $0.20 for three. The four object symbols pay far less: five lyres or helmets $3.00, five tridents or bolts $2.00, and three of them 10 to 15 cents.

The bet is picked from five buttons, 0.60 to 4.00 around the default, with step buttons either side. The server lists coin values of 0.01 to 5.00 at 20 coins a spin, which gives $0.20 to $100; the help text names no limits. There is no gamble.

Rise of Olympus base spin 11 at a $1 bet in the Hades world: a 5x5 grid with nine empty spaces, a list of three wins and WIN 6.50Base spin 11 of 100 at $1, settled: three gods for $0.20 at x1, two helmets and a coin for $0.30 at x2, four bolts and a coin for $6.00 at x3. Rise of Olympus bonus features

Drops and the win multiplier

Every win is collected, its symbols are removed and the symbols above fall into the gaps. No new symbols arrive, so the grid thins out as a round goes on. Each drop raises the win multiplier by one step, and the round keeps cascading until nothing more connects.

In the base game each spin starts again from x1. Our spin 11 shows the pattern: its first win paid at x1, the second at x2 and the third at x3, and after the drops nine of the 25 positions stood empty.

Hand of God

On a spin that brings no win, the active god has a chance to step in with his own ability, and the round then continues as normal:

  • Hades: one set of symbols is chosen and transformed into another symbol
  • Poseidon: one or two wilds are added to the grid
  • Zeus: two sets of symbols are destroyed and removed

The active god changes after each trigger, so the god on duty does not stay the same for a whole session.

Wrath of Olympus

The meter on the left has three sections and fills only from wins with the god symbols, a wild counting as part of them: five in a row fill three sections, four fill two and three fill one. Play'n GO's game page calls the result the Wrath of God; the game itself labels it Wrath of Olympus.

Once the meter is full and no wins remain, one free round is played with the multiplier reset. Each time the cascades stop, the next god performs his Hand of God, in the same order every time, until all three have acted and nothing more connects. It cannot be retriggered.

Rise of Olympus paytable page 2: the three-section Wrath of Olympus meter, filled by 3, 4 or 5 god symbols, and the three gods' coinsPaytable page 2 in our demo session: the Wrath of Olympus meter, filled only by wins with the god symbols. FluxPlays demo test, 19 October 2026.

Free spins: Hades, Poseidon or Zeus

Clearing every symbol from the grid triggers free spins, and you pick one of three gods. Hades gives 4 spins, Poseidon 5 and Zeus 8; the game says fewer spins mean higher risk and higher potential.

The chosen god's Hand of God then fires on every non-winning free spin, not just by chance. The multiplier is no longer reset between spins and can grow to x20.

Filling the meter adds 4 more spins with Hades, 3 with Poseidon or 2 with Zeus, up to 20 in all, and clearing the grid again during free spins pays 100x the bet. The Wrath of Olympus is switched off in free spins.

RTP, volatility and max win

Paytable page 1 states the maximum: 5,000x the bet, which is $5,000 at $1. The help text and the five paytable pages give no RTP, and neither does the official page. Review sites list 96.5% and rate the game high volatility; the demo does not show which RTP version it runs.

Played on Play'n GO's official practice demo in one session, from a 25,000.00 balance, with no reload and no error. The demo shows credits without a currency label; we count one credit as one dollar. Every spin was at 1.00 (20 coins at 0.05); spin 1 by mouse, spins 2 to 100 started one at a time by a script clicking the spin button, without Auto Play. Rise of Olympus has no bonus buy, ante, paid mode or gamble. The grid was never cleared, so free spins did not trigger, and the Wrath of Olympus meter never filled. Which Hand of God abilities fired was not recorded. Spin 11 is a single result; the other 99 returned $30.60. The rules state no RTP, so no version is shown. Totals from the server log: $100.00 staked, $37.10 returned, ending at 24,937.10 to the cent. A sample of 100 spins says nothing reliable about the RTP or the volatility.

We played Play'n GO's official practice demo at $1 a spin, 20 coins at 0.05. Its credits carry no currency label; we count each one as a dollar. The demo opened at 25,000.00 on the 1.00 bet. The first spin was a click and a script started the other 99 one at a time, without Auto Play, in one session with no reload and no error.

The 100 spins returned $37.10 and ended at 24,937.10, matching the server balance and the screen. Thirty-four spins paid, 23 of them less than $1 and seven just $0.10. The longest run without a win was 9 spins, 43 to 51.

The best spin was 11, $6.50 or 6.5x the bet, built on four bolts and a coin at x3; the next best were $4.80 on spin 29 and $3.35 on spin 62. Spin 11 is a single result: the other 99 spins returned $30.60 from 33 wins.

The balance peaked at 24,999.90 after spin 14 and slid from there, so the last spin left it at its lowest point. The first 50 spins returned $22.90 and the second 50 $14.20.

We never cleared the grid, so the free spins did not trigger, and the meter never filled, so we did not see the Wrath of Olympus either; both are described from the rules. Which Hand of God abilities fired was not recorded. A sample of 100 spins says nothing reliable about the RTP or the volatility.

Is Rise of Olympus worth trying?

Rise of Olympus plays like a short puzzle on every spin. Because nothing refills, each win makes the board smaller and the next drop worth more, and a nearly empty grid is the only road to the bonus. The Hand of God gives a dead spin a second chance, and the god you get changes as you play.

The free spins choice is the game's best idea. You can take eight spins with Zeus destroying two sets of symbols or four with Hades transforming one, each with a multiplier that carries over to x20 and a 100x prize for every fresh clear. The cost is a base game that pays mostly in cents, and our session never got near a clear.

Against Gemix, by both games' rules, each sends help to a losing round: Gemix its world's wild, Rise of Olympus its active god. Gemix refills a 7x7 grid and pays clusters of five; this one empties a 5x5 and pays lines of three. Our Gemix session paid $77.30 from 60 wins and this one $37.10 from 34, single sessions both.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the Rise of Olympus demo for free?+

Yes. The page loads Play'n GO's practice version, free and without an account. It holds 25,000 credits with no currency sign and opens on the 1.00 bet, 20 coins at 0.05, between buttons from 0.60 to 4.00. Every round is collected by the game itself: there is no gamble and nothing to buy.

How do the free spins work in Rise of Olympus?+

Clear every symbol from the grid and pick a god: Hades for 4 free spins, Poseidon for 5 or Zeus for 8. His Hand of God fires on every losing free spin, the multiplier carries over up to x20, refilling the meter adds 4, 3 or 2 spins up to 20, and another clear pays 100x. We did not trigger them in 100 spins.

What does the Hand of God do in Rise of Olympus?+

It can step in at random on a spin with no win, using the god shown on the right. Hades turns one set of symbols into another symbol, Poseidon adds one or two wilds and Zeus destroys two sets of symbols. The active god changes after each trigger, and the round carries on normally afterwards.

What is the Wrath of Olympus?+

A free round that fires when the three-section meter is full and no wins remain. Only wins with the god symbols fill it, one to three sections for three to five in a row. In that round all three gods use their Hand of God in turn, each time the cascades stop. It cannot be retriggered, and we never filled the meter.

What are the RTP and max win of Rise of Olympus?+

The maximum is 5,000x the bet, stated on the first paytable page: $5,000 at $1 and $500,000 at the $100 top bet. The game states no RTP. Review sites list 96.5% and rate it high volatility, and the practice demo does not show which RTP version it runs, so check the game information at your casino.
