Our verdict
Gates of Hades pays clusters on a 6x6 grid and stores wild multipliers in meters above the reels, so every cluster on a lit reel is boosted. In free spins the meters never reset, and the 500x Super buy adds a 10x floor to every wild under a 10,000x cap. The base game is thin, because the meters clear after each sequence, and the name is the main thing it shares with Gates of Olympus.
Who it suits
Play this if…
- You like multipliers that build: wild values pile up in meters that stay for the whole free spins round
- You want two ways in: a 100x buy, or a 500x Super buy with a 10x floor on every wild
- You want a high ceiling under a medium label: wins can reach 10,000x the bet
Skip this if…
- You want lively base spins: the meters clear after each sequence, and 73 of our 100 spins paid nothing
- You want a cheap route to the best round: the Super buy costs 500x
- You expect Gates of Olympus: this is a cluster game with reel meters, not pay anywhere

Gates of Hades: Full Review
Gates of Hades is Pragmatic Play's 2025 slot, and despite the name its rules describe a different game from Gates of Olympus. Clusters of five or more pay on a 6x6 grid, wins tumble, and wild multipliers are stored in meters above the reels. Free spins keep the meters all round, a Super version sets a 10x floor for every wild, and wins stop at 10,000x. We played 100 spins of the Gates of Hades demo at $1 and bought both rounds.

What is the Gates of Hades slot about?
A dark stone gate frames the grid against lava and purple peaks, and Hades stands on the right with a burning head and a golden trident. Above each reel a wolf head marks an empty meter, which turns into a fiery ring with a value once a wild multiplier lands. A win list on the left shows each cluster's size, multiplier and pay, such as "6 (orange) x100 $20.00".
Symbols pay in blocks of five or more joined horizontally or vertically, not along lines and not anywhere on the screen. Each block pays by its size, with its own pay for every count from 5 to 14 and one for 15 to 36. Only the highest win counts per block, and several blocks in one tumble are added.
At a $1 bet the crown pays $1.50 for five, $6 for ten and $150 for 15 or more; the ring $1.25, $4.50 and $120; the heart pendant $1, $3.75 and $60; and the red gem $0.75, $3 and $45. The other four gems are far smaller: 15 or more pay $5 to $12, and five blue gems pay $0.05.
Spin 5 of 100 at $1: two wild meters lit over reels 1 and 2, and four clusters paid $2.50. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
Gates of Hades bonus features
Tumbles
Each winning block is paid and removed, the symbols above fall, and new ones drop in until no new cluster forms, with no limit on the number of tumbles. The money reaches your balance when the whole sequence ends.
Wild multipliers and the reel meters
The WILD, a burning ring, can land on any reel during a spin or a tumble, in the base game and in free spins. It can carry 1x to 10x in single steps, or 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 50x or 100x, and that value goes into the meter on top of its reel, adding to what is already there.
Every cluster win is multiplied by the sum of the meters over the reels its symbols sit on, whether or not a wild is part of it, so a block that spans two lit reels takes both values. In the base game the meters clear when the tumbles end. The rules also list a pay for 36 wilds, $150 at $1.
The rules: wild multipliers go into a meter on top of their reel and multiply every cluster on that reel. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
Scatters, free spins and Super Free Spins
Hades is the scatter and lands on all reels: three, four, five, or six and more start 10, 12, 15 or 20 free spins on special reels, and the same counts during the round add 5, 7, 10 or 12. In the round the meters no longer clear, so whatever they collect stays to the last spin, and wild values can also reach 200x or 500x.
A round started by six or more scatters follows the Super Free Spins rule, under which no wild can land with less than 10x.
Two buys, at 100x and 500x
BUY FREE SPINS costs 100x the bet, $100 at $1, and BUY SUPER FREE SPINS costs 500x, $500. Both land three to six scatters at random, so the spin count still varies, and the Super buy brings the 10x floor without six scatters. The rules give the buys 96.50% and 96.47%, against 96.52% for normal play. There is no ante bet.
The Super buy at a $1 bet costs $500, five times the plain buy. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
Maximum win, RTP and bets
Wins stop at 10,000x the bet in the base game and free spins, and a round that reaches the cap ends there. Bets run from $0.20 to $240, and the rules show a MEDIUM VOLATILITY badge where the review sites we checked say high. Pragmatic Play's own game page describes pay-anywhere wins and 15 free spins, but the demo's rules describe the cluster game on this page.

Played on the official demo with play money, base spins started one at a time by a script clicking the spin button, without autoplay, in a single session; quick spin from around spin 6 (speed only). The game has no ante bet, special modes or gamble. Free spins never triggered in the 100 base spins. Spin 22's $14.15 was a single result: the other 99 spins returned $28.05. The Free Spins buy ($100) paid $35.70 in 10 spins and the Super Free Spins buy ($500) $244.70 in 10 spins, one round each. Totals from the spin log: $700.00 staked, $322.60 returned, ending at $99,622.60. 100 spins and one round of each buy cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.
We lowered the opening $2.00 bet to $1.00 and played 100 base spins, each started by a script clicking the spin button rather than by autoplay, then bought each round once. Quick spin from around spin 6 changed only the speed.
The base game paid little: 27 spins paid, 18 of them under $1 and only two above $5, $6.20 on spin 33 and $14.15 on spin 22. The longest dry run lasted 16 spins, from 43 to 58, and free spins never triggered on their own.
Spin 22 showed the meters at work. It ended with meters of 1x and 25x over reels 3 and 4, and the win list shows three clusters paid at x20: five purple gems for $4.00, seven green for $4.00 and eight orange for $6.00, plus five orange gems with no multiplier for $0.15. That $14.15 was a single result; the other 99 spins returned $28.05.
Spin 22 of 100 at $1: three clusters at x20 and one without, $14.15, our best base win. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
The $100 buy landed three scatters for 10 free spins. The meters filled slowly, reading 2x, 7x and 1x over the first three reels by free spin 6, and with no retrigger the round paid $35.70.
The $100 buy at $1: $35.70 in 10 free spins. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
The $500 Super buy also landed three scatters, for 10 spins with the 10x floor. It started slowly: the first spin paid nothing, and five spins made $15.95. Then the meters climbed, and spins 6 to 10 added $228.75, $149.00 of it in the last three. They finished at 10x, 50x, 30x, 10x and 90x over reels 1 to 5, and the round paid $244.70: 244.7 times the bet, under half its price.
The Super round settled: meters of 10x to 90x over reels 1 to 5 and $244.70 from 10 spins at $1. FluxPlays demo test, 18 October 2026.
We saw no retrigger and no award above 10 spins, and the biggest meter we saw was 90x, so the 200x and 500x values and six natural scatters are described from the rules. The session, part by part:
- Base game, 100 spins at $1: $100.00 in, $42.20 back
- Free Spins buy: $100.00 in, $35.70 back
- Super Free Spins buy: $500.00 in, $244.70 back
That makes $700.00 staked and $322.60 returned, and the server balance went from $100,000.00 to $99,622.60, which our log matches. One round of each buy and 100 spins cannot measure a 96.52% RTP or test the medium badge.
Is Gates of Hades worth trying?
It suits players who like multipliers that build on the grid rather than on one symbol. The meters reward clusters that stretch across lit reels, and in free spins they never reset, so a slow round can still build late, as our Super round did. The 10,000x cap leaves room above that.
The base game is thinner, since the meters clear after every sequence and the four low gems pay little without them. The Super buy costs five times the plain one, and what it adds is the 10x floor, which six natural scatters also give.
Gates of Olympus 2500, which we tested, pays anywhere for eight or more symbols and multiplies a whole tumble sequence by the sum of its orbs, up to 2,500x each, under a 25,000x cap and a high label. Cosmic Clusters! shares this 6x6 grid and five-symbol cluster rule but builds its free spins on money symbols.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play the Gates of Hades demo for free?+
Yes. This page runs Pragmatic Play's official Gates of Hades demo with play money and no sign-up. Ours opened at a $2.00 bet with the buys at $200 and $1,000; at $1.00 they cost $100 and $500. Both buys work in the demo, so you can try the Super round's 10x floor on every wild without waiting for six scatters.
Is Gates of Hades the same as Gates of Olympus?+
No. According to the three review sites we checked, Gates of Olympus pays anywhere on a 6x5 grid for eight or more symbols, with multiplier orbs of 2x to 500x added up when the tumbles end, and a 5,000x cap. Gates of Hades pays clusters of five or more on a 6x6 grid, stores wild multipliers in meters over the reels and caps wins at 10,000x. We have not tested the original Gates of Olympus.
How do the wild multiplier meters work in Gates of Hades?+
A wild can land carrying 1x to 100x, and its value goes into the meter on top of its reel. Each cluster is multiplied by the sum of the meters over the reels it touches, so a cluster across two lit reels takes both. In the base game the meters clear after each tumble sequence; in free spins they stay to the end. On our spin 22 three clusters paid at x20.
Should I buy Free Spins or Super Free Spins in Gates of Hades?+
They differ in one rule. Both land three to six scatters for 10 to 20 spins with meters that stay all round, and the 500x Super buy adds a 10x minimum on every wild for five times the 100x price. The rules give them 96.50% and 96.47%. Our $100 round paid $35.70 and our $500 round $244.70, one round each, which cannot show which returns more.
What are the RTP, volatility and max win of Gates of Hades?+
The rules give 96.52% for normal play, the figure on Pragmatic Play's game page too, with 96.50% and 96.47% for the two buys. They show a MEDIUM VOLATILITY badge. The maximum win is 10,000x the bet, $10,000 at $1, in the base game and free spins alike, and a round that reaches it ends at once. Our best result was the Super round at 244.7x.
