Ragnarok hangs everything on one rune stone: each avalanche win doubles the multiplier, a Wild drops in after every win to keep the chain going, and Loki's Trick can start a round several steps up. Free spins keep every doubling until the end. Fast Track sells two rounds, a 50/50 Gamble and two feature modes, but the base game pays little while the stone sits at x1.

Who it suits

Play this if…

  • You like multipliers that snowball: every avalanche win doubles the stone, and free spins never reset it
  • You want features on demand: Fast Track runs from a 5x Giant Symbol spin to the 400x 12-spin round
  • You fancy a coin flip on the big round: 200x buys a 50% chance of 12 free spins

Skip this if…

  • You want steady symbol wins: five of the top giant pay 0.4x the bet
  • You dislike all-or-nothing buys: a losing Gamble is one empty spin
  • You want extra spins in the bonus: no Bonus horns land during free spins

Ragnarok: Full Review

Ragnarok is a Slotmill slot from 12 March 2024 that puts Norse gods and rune stones on a 5x5 avalanche cluster grid. Its hook is a win multiplier that doubles with every avalanche win, which Loki's Trick can raise before a spin and free spins never reset. Slotmill's page calls it High volatility; the top RTP is 96.12% and wins stop at 10,000x the bet. We tested the Ragnarok slot over 100 spins at $1, every Fast Track buy and both feature modes.

What is the Ragnarok slot about?

A carved rune stone stands left of the reels in a valley of snowy peaks, with a red-leaved tree and glowing standing stones on the right. The stone shows the current multiplier with the next two steps above. In free spins the sky turns red and a counter on the right tracks the spins.

Seven symbols pay, by the paytable, though one review counts eight. Four carved faces are the premiums: a blue-faced giant with blazing eyes, a purple crowned king, a green-helmeted warrior and a blue-helmeted Viking. Raven, wolf and dragon rune stones are the lows. At a $1 bet, five giants pay $0.40 and twelve or more $12.50; the rune stones pay $0.15 for five, $5 to $6 for twelve or more.

Clusters need 5 or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically. Winners explode, and before new symbols drop in, a gold W Wild appears in one of the gaps to help the next avalanche along. The Wild stands in for everything but the Bonus horn.

Ragnarok base game at a $1 bet: a 5x5 grid of carved Norse faces and rune stones, a Bonus horn, the multiplier stone at x1 and Xtra-Bet offBefore our first spin at $1, from the $6,000 demo balance: the rune stone at x1 on the left and Xtra-Bet switched off. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

Ragnarok bonus features

Progressive Win Multiplier

Every avalanche win doubles the multiplier on the stone, from x1 to x2, x4 and onward; the rules' picture of it runs up to x8192. The game server's log shows each win paid at the stone's current value before it doubles. In the base game the multiplier resets at the start of every round, so it only grows within one chain of avalanches.

Loki's Trick

Loki's Trick can fire at the start of any round and lifts the multiplier a random number of steps before the reels drop. In our test it set the stone at x32 before base spin 2 and at x16 before Loki's Trick spin 9, which turns a small cluster into a real win from the first avalanche.

Giant Symbols

At the start of a round, or at the end when no more wins form, 2x2 or 3x3 giant symbols may appear at random. They count as 4 or 9 of their symbol, so one giant needs little help to complete a cluster of five.

Free Spins

Three, four or five Bonus horns in the base game award 8, 10 or 12 free spins. The multiplier starts at x1 and keeps every doubling until the round ends, so late wins can be multiplied hundreds of times. No Bonus symbols land during the round, which means no extra spins.

Ragnarok free spin 4 of 8 under a red sky: a 2x2 giant wolf stone, giant warrior and king symbols and a gold W Wild, the stone at x1Free spin 4 of 8 in our $100 buy: giant wolf, warrior and king symbols under the red sky. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

Fast Track, Xtra-Bet and Burst Mode

Fast Track, top left, sells five options from the base game, each charged on every spin until you click the X on its icon. Two are bonus buys: 3 Bonus symbols for 8 free spins at 100x the bet (96.32% RTP) and 5 Bonus symbols for 12 at 400x (96.44%), carded as BONUS and SUPER BONUS.

The Gamble feature costs 200x (96.45%). Half the time it lands 5 Bonus symbols and the 12-spin round; otherwise you get one spin that pays nothing. Two cheaper options guarantee a feature rather than a bonus: Loki's Trick at 25x (96.23%) and Giant Symbol at 5x (96.15%). Every confirmation box rates its option Very High volatility.

Xtra-Bet is a separate toggle below Fast Track. It adds 50% to the stake for three times the free spins chance, at 96.10%, still pays wins on the base bet and cannot run with Fast Track; we left it off. Burst Mode, a quick autoplay that shows only round totals, went unused. Bets run from $0.20 to $60.

Ragnarok Fast Track menu at a $1 bet: Gamble 50/50 for 200, Super Bonus 400, Bonus 100, Loki's Trick 25 and Giant Symbol 5 USDFast Track at a $1 bet before our first spin: the Gamble, two bonus rounds and two feature options. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

Played on Slotmill's official demo in US dollars, from its $6,000 demo balance (100 times the $60 top bet), with every round matched to the game server's log. No free spins triggered in the 100 base spins; base spin 2 paid $380.80, a single result, and the other 99 returned $42.40. Loki's Trick: 10 spins at $25, $250.00 in, $746.00 back, a single 10-spin result; spin 9 paid $398.40 from x16 to x1024, and the other nine returned $347.60. Giant Symbol: 10 spins at $5, $50.00 in, $32.65 back. Xtra-Bet is a separate toggle and was left off, so it was not tested. Totals from the spin log: $1,100.00 staked, $1,394.75 returned, in one session from $6,000.00 to $6,294.75; without base spin 2 and Loki's Trick spin 9 the rest returned $615.55 for $1,074. These samples cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.

Slotmill's official demo ran in US dollars from a $6,000.00 balance, 100 times the $60 top bet, and every round matched the game server's log. The 100 base spins at $1 paid $423.20 from 33 wins, but one spin made almost all of it. No free spins triggered, and the longest dry run lasted 9 spins.

On spin 2 Loki's Trick put the stone at x32 before anything landed. The game server's log shows three avalanche wins of $0.30, $5.00 and $0.40 paid at x32, x64 and x128, $380.80 in all, and the stone finished at x256. That is a single result: the other 99 spins returned $42.40 from 32 wins, topped by $4.30 on spin 1.

Ragnarok base spin 2 at a $1 bet, settled: blazing-eyed giants and two gold W Wilds on the grid, WIN 380.80, balance 6,383.10Base spin 2 of 100 at $1, settled: $380.80, with the stone back at x1. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

We then bought each round once. The $100 3 Bonus symbols round gave 8 free spins. Giant symbols landed on the fourth, and the total was $2.00 when free spin 7's avalanche took the multiplier from x4 to x32 and the total to $44.80, where it ended.

The $400 5 Bonus symbols round gave 12. It had paid $7.30 after eight spins; the ninth lifted it to $112.90, and by the eleventh it stood at $148.10, with the stone at x256 when the round closed.

Ragnarok result screen for our $400 5 Bonus symbols buy at a $1 bet: You won $148.10, 12/12 free spins, the multiplier stone at x256The result of our $400 5 Bonus symbols buy: $148.10 over 12 free spins, the stone at x256. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

The $200 Gamble came down on its losing half: one spin with no Bonus symbols and no win. No gamble animation played; the board simply settled.

Ten Loki's Trick spins at $25 each started with the stone already raised, and seven paid, $746.00 in all. Spin 9 began at x16 and avalanched six times to x1024 for $398.40, a single result. The other nine returned $347.60 for $225, and without the $192.00 and $140.80 spins as well, the remaining seven made $14.80.

Ragnarok Loki's Trick spin 9 at $25 a spin, settled: a 2x2 giant purple king among the faces, WIN 398.40, balance 6,337.10Loki's Trick spin 9, $25 at a $1 bet, settled: $398.40, with a 2x2 giant king on the grid. FluxPlays demo test, 16 October 2026.

Ten Giant Symbol spins at $5 paid nine times, but small: $32.65 in all, the best $18.00 on the last.

By part of the session:

  • Base game, 100 spins at $1: $100.00 in, $423.20 back
  • 3 Bonus symbols buy at 100x: $100.00 in, $44.80 back
  • 5 Bonus symbols buy at 400x: $400.00 in, $148.10 back
  • Gamble feature at 200x: $200.00 in, $0.00 back
  • Loki's Trick, 10 spins at $25: $250.00 in, $746.00 back
  • Giant Symbol, 10 spins at $5: $50.00 in, $32.65 back

The server log totals $1,100.00 staked and $1,394.75 returned, one session from $6,000.00 to $6,294.75. Two spins did most of that: without base spin 2 and Loki's Trick spin 9, the rest returned $615.55 for $1,074. The rules showed 96.12%. We saw no natural free spins, no 10-spin round and no Gamble win, and a test this size cannot measure the RTP or the volatility.

Is Ragnarok worth trying?

The doubling stone is the reason to play. Every avalanche win doubles it, a fresh Wild after each win helps the next avalanche, and Loki's Trick can start a round several steps up, so even a base spin can climb into the hundreds. Free spins keep every doubling to the end.

The flip side is a thin base game while the stone sits low: five of the top giant pay 40 cents at a $1 bet, and most wins stay small without Loki's help. Slotmill's game page rates the volatility High, the rules give no word for it, and every Fast Track box says Very High.

Fast Track offers five ways in. The Gamble costs half the 400x round for a 50% chance of it, and the two feature modes are cheap ways to see the stone climb. Their RTPs, 96.15% to 96.45%, all sit above the base game's 96.12%, and Slotmill's page also lists a 94.05% version that our demo did not show.

Coin Quest, Slotmill's 2022 cluster game, starts from the same base by both games' rules: a 5x5 grid, avalanche clusters of 5 or more, a Wild dropped into a gap after an ordinary win and a 10,000x cap. It builds value in coins that merge and a meter that adds Coins and Wilds, where Ragnarok puts everything on the doubling stone.

Slotmill's Emberfall, released in November 2024, reuses the doubling multiplier, Giant Symbols and a free spins multiplier that never resets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the Ragnarok demo for free?+

Yes, with play money and no account: this page loads Slotmill's own Ragnarok demo. It opened for us at $6,000.00, 100 times the $60 top bet, at a $1 bet. All five Fast Track options work, from the $5 Giant Symbol to the $400 round, and the Xtra-Bet toggle sits just below them, though it cannot run together with Fast Track.

Is this Slotmill's Ragnarok or Ragnarok 40K?+

This page covers the original Ragnarok, Slotmill's 5x5 cluster slot from March 2024 with the doubling rune stone. Ragnarok 40K and Ragnarök Gold are later Slotmill games with their own rules, and other providers have released slots called Ragnarok too, so none of the figures or test results here apply to them.

How does the multiplier work in Ragnarok?+

A rune stone beside the reels holds a win multiplier that doubles with every avalanche win. In the base game it starts each round at x1, unless Loki's Trick lifts it a random number of steps first. In free spins it also starts at x1 but keeps every doubling to the end: our $400 round finished with the stone at x256.

What does the Gamble option in Ragnarok do?+

For 200x the bet, at 96.45% RTP, it plays one round with a 50% chance of landing 5 Bonus symbols and the 12 free spins that the 400x buy guarantees; otherwise the spin pays nothing. Ours came down on the losing side, one spin with no Bonus symbols, so the winning half was not seen in our test.

What is Xtra-Bet in Ragnarok?+

A toggle below Fast Track that raises the stake by 50% for three times the chance of free spins, with wins still paid on the base bet and an RTP of 96.10%. It can only be switched before a round and never with a Fast Track option. We left it off, so our test says nothing about how it plays.
