Emberfall

Emberfall is a Slotmill slot from 19 November 2024 that sets a 6x6 avalanche grid of warriors, weapons and gems below an erupting volcano. There is no Wild: every avalanche win doubles a multiplier carved into a stone pillar, and in free spins that multiplier never resets. Slotmill's Game Data rates it Very High, the RTP is 96.10% and wins stop at 15,000x. We tested the Emberfall slot over 100 spins at $1, every Fast Track buy, the Gamble and both feature modes.

What is the Emberfall slot about?

The grid stands on black volcanic rock under a full moon, with lava running down the volcano behind it and embers drifting across the screen. The multiplier pillar sits on the left, showing the current value and the next two steps. Bought rounds open on a dragon, red for free spins and blue for the Super round, and close on a hoard of treasure.

Wins need 8 or more of a symbol anywhere on the grid. Winners explode, new symbols drop in, and the avalanche runs on while fresh wins form.

Nine symbols pay. A black-bearded warrior leads at 40 cents for eight and $10 for sixteen or more at a $1 bet, ahead of a sword, an axe, a shield and a horned helmet. Four gems fill the bottom, 10 or 15 cents for eight and $3 to $3.50 for sixteen or more.

Emberfall bonus features

Progressive Win Multiplier

Each avalanche win doubles the multiplier, from x1 to x2, x4 and onward, and the next win is paid at the new value. In the base game it resets at the start of every round, so it only grows within one chain of avalanches. The rules cap it at x65536.

Multiplier Boost

At the start of any round the Multiplier Boost may fire and raise the multiplier a random number of steps before the symbols fall. None of our 100 base spins started above x1, by the game server's log, so we never saw it arrive on its own.

Giant Symbols

At the start of a round, or at its end when no wins are left, giant symbols of 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 can appear. They count as 4, 9 or 16 of their symbol, and a win needs 8, so one 3x3 giant is a win on its own.

Free Spins and Super Free Spins

Three red dragon-eye Bonus symbols award 8 free spins. The multiplier starts at x1 and keeps every doubling until the round ends, and no Bonus symbols land, so there are no extra spins.

Two Bonus symbols and a blue Super Bonus award 8 Super Free Spins instead, with the same rules plus a giant symbol guaranteed on every spin.

Fast Track, Gamble and Xtra-Bet

Fast Track, top left, sells five options, each charged on every spin until its icon is clicked off. Two are bonus buys: Free Spins at 100x the bet (96.40% RTP) and Super Free Spins at 500x (96.44%).

The Gamble feature costs 250x (96.44%) and is a coin toss for the Super round: half the time it awards the Super Free Spins, otherwise the spin pays nothing. Multiplier Boost at 40x (96.34%) guarantees the boost, and Super Bonus Hunt at 5x (96.18%) turns any bonus into Super Free Spins, at 1 in 75 by its confirmation box.

The confirmation boxes rate four options Very High and Super Bonus Hunt Extreme. Xtra-Bet, a separate toggle, adds 50% to the stake for 2.7 times the free spins chance at 96.09% and cannot run with Fast Track; we left it and Burst Mode off. Bets run from $0.20 to $60 over 23 levels.

Our Emberfall demo test

Slotmill's official demo ran in US dollars from $6,000.00, 100 times the $60 top bet, at $1, and the game server's log chains all 123 rounds with no break. The 100 base spins returned $130.85 from 27 wins, ten of them under $1, and the longest dry run lasted 7 spins. No bonus landed.

Spin 17 made a third of that. By the game server's log, seven avalanche wins in a row took the multiplier from x1 to x64 and paid $0.15, $0.20, $0.40 and $0.80, then $11.20, $8.00 and $22.40 once it reached x16, $43.15 in all. Without that single result the other 99 spins returned $87.70, topped by $17.35 on spin 43.

The bought rounds went three ways. The $100 Free Spins reached x16 by its fourth spin, and on the seventh a $4.00 win at x16 and a $1.80 cluster paid at x32 made $61.60 of its $69.55. The $500 Super Free Spins climbed to x64 and added $38.40 on its seventh spin, but closed at $81.75.

The $250 Gamble dropped a column of blank blockers and landed on its winning half, 8 Super Free Spins. Eleven avalanche wins then doubled the multiplier from x1 to x1024. Spin 5 added $38.40, spin 6 $147.20 at x128 and x256, spin 7 $768.00 at x512, and spin 8 $256.00 at x1024, for $1,220.15, 4.9x the price.

That Gamble is a single result: without it, the session staked $1,150.00 and returned $601.25.

Ten Multiplier Boost spins at $40 all paid. The boost started six of them at x8, two at x32, one at x128 and one at x256, and the x256 spin turned a $0.60 win into $153.60. They returned $308.00 for $400, or $154.40 without that spin. Ten Super Bonus Hunt spins at $5 brought $11.10 and no bonus.

All told the log shows $1,400.00 staked and $1,821.40 returned, from $6,000.00 to $6,421.40, with 96.10% on the intro and rules. We never saw a natural bonus, a base-game Multiplier Boost or the Gamble's losing half, and no sample this size can pin down the RTP or the volatility.

Is Emberfall worth trying?

The doubling pillar is the whole draw. A short chain pays cents, but each avalanche doubles the next win, and in free spins the value carries from spin to spin, so a round's last spins can dwarf its first. Giant symbols up to 4x4 help the chains along.

The flip side is that nothing else pays well. There is no Wild, eight of the top warrior pay 40 cents at a $1 bet, and the multiplier only matters once a chain gets going, in the base game and in a bought round alike.

Fast Track is wide. The Gamble costs half the Super round for a 50% shot at it, and every option's RTP, 96.18% to 96.44%, sits above the base game's 96.10%. Slotmill's page also names a 94.10% version for casinos that want it. The confirm dialogs agree with Slotmill's Very High; the High in some data boxes does not.

Ragnarok runs the same engine, by both games' rules: a multiplier that doubles on every avalanche win and survives free spins, a random boost before the drop (Loki's Trick there), Giant Symbols and a 50/50 Gamble on Fast Track. Emberfall moves it to a 6x6 scatter-pays grid without Wilds, adds 4x4 giants and a Super round with a giant on every spin, and raises the cap from 10,000x to 15,000x.

Dead Man's Drop also sells a Super Bonus Hunt on a 6x6 grid, but it pays clusters and doubles each Wild separately.
